Strategic Collaboration Fuels EV Growth
The Alliance’s collaboration at the Ampere Douai Plant underscores its focus on delivering tailored electric vehicles for European consumers. Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors have partnered with Ampere, leveraging its competitive ecosystem to produce the all-new Nissan Micra and the next-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. These models utilize Ampere’s AmpR Small and AmpR Medium platforms, ensuring brand-specific customization while maintaining production efficiency. The Nissan Micra, unveiled in May, targets European preferences, while the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross marks the brand’s first EV SUV manufactured in France.
Ampere Douai: A Hub of Innovation
The Douai plant has undergone a €550 million transformation to become a benchmark for EV production in Europe. Equipped with a flexible standard line and two modular platforms, the facility supports the production of six electric models across four brands: Renault (Megane E-Tech, Scenic E-Tech Electric, R5 E-Tech Electric), Alpine (A290), Nissan (Micra EV), and Mitsubishi Motors (Eclipse Cross). A new battery assembly workshop enhances the plant’s capabilities, enabling it to meet growing demand for EVs. In 2024, the plant produced 89,527 vehicles, a significant increase from 50,729 in 2023, reflecting its shift to 100% EV production in May 2023.
Driving Sustainable Mobility
The Alliance’s renewed focus on joint projects positions the Ampere Douai Plant as a leader in industrial excellence and sustainable mobility. By combining shared expertise with flexible manufacturing, the Alliance ensures that each brand retains its unique identity while benefiting from economies of scale. The upcoming launches of the Nissan Micra EV and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV in late 2025 will further solidify the Alliance’s role in shaping the future of electric mobility in Europe.
