Audi Brussels Celebrates Production of 200,000th EV

Audi Brussels hits a major milestone by manufacturing its 200,000th all-electric vehicle, showcasing its dedication to a sustainable future and CO2-neutral production.

What’s Happening

Audi Brussels has recently celebrated the manufacturing of its 200,000th electric vehicle. The milestone car, an Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron painted in the exclusive Soneira Red, symbolizes the plant’s commitment to sustainable automobile production. Since December 2022, this production facility has been rolling out Audi Q8 e-tron and Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron models, which are considered the pinnacles of the Audi Group’s electric SUV range.

Why It Matters

This milestone is a testament to Audi Brussels’ dedication to advancing sustainable vehicle production. The Brussels facility is globally recognized as the first large-scale, CO2-neutral production site in the premium segment, as confirmed by independent certification. By setting high standards for environmentally-friendly operations, Audi Brussels is paving the way for other manufacturers to adopt similar practices.

Key Points

The Brussels plant has a significant role in Audi’s sustainability efforts. It houses the largest photovoltaic site in the region, sprawling over 107,000 square meters. This renewable energy site allows the Audi plant to save approximately 1,881 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The facility’s solar array generates around 9,000 megawatt hours of electricity from renewable sources per year. This amount of clean energy is sufficient to power approximately 90,000 Audi Q8 e-trons.

Bottom Line

Looking ahead, Audi Brussels shows no signs of slowing down in its mission for green vehicle production. The plant is expected to start the assembly of the Audi Q4 e-tron in the latter half of 2023, supplementing its production in Zwickau, Germany. As it continues to blend innovative car manufacturing with a commitment to sustainability, Audi Brussels sets the bar high for CO2-neutral production in the auto industry.
