Silicon-Carbide Inverters Improve iX1 and iX2 Efficiency

The BMW iX1 eDrive20 and iX1 xDrive30 will incorporate silicon-carbide semiconductor components in their power electronics beginning spring 2026. This SiC inverter technology enables greater efficiency, reducing combined WLTP energy consumption while adding approximately 40 kilometers of range.

The updated specifications are as follows:

  • BMW iX1 eDrive20: 150 kW/204 hp, 16.1–16.0 kWh/100 km, 458–461 km range
  • BMW iX1 xDrive30: 225 kW/306 hp, 17.2–17.1 kWh/100 km, 429–430 km range

The BMW iX2 receives identical powertrain upgrades with comparable efficiency gains:

  • BMW iX2 eDrive20: 150 kW/204 hp, 15.7–15.6 kWh/100 km, 474 km range
  • BMW iX2 xDrive30: 225 kW/306 hp, 16.7–16.6 kWh/100 km, 444–449 km range

iX3 Adds 22 kW AC Charging Option

The BMW iX3 gains the AC Charging Professional option for spring 2026. This package supports AC charging at up to 22 kW and includes Vehicle-to-Load capability, allowing the vehicle to supply external electrical devices with up to 3.7 kW of power.

The iX3 50 xDrive maintains its current specifications: energy consumption of 17.9–15.1 kWh/100 km (WLTP) and an electric range of 678–805 km (WLTP).

New iX3 Color and Interior Options

BMW introduces three new exterior colors for the iX3:

  • Eucalyptus Green metallic
  • BMW Individual Frozen Space Silver metallic
  • Fire Red metallic

Additional updates include the BMW Individual steering wheel in Digital White, available with the Contemporary Digital White Bicolour interior. Starting in March, Contemporary, BMW M, and BMW Individual interior designs will include a stainless steel loading sill. Vehicles equipped with M Sport Package or M Sport Package Pro receive a key featuring M stripes.

XM

M5 and XM Label Prepared for Euro 7

BMW M has revised drive technology for the M5 and XM Label to meet Euro 7 emissions regulations taking effect in 2027. These updates apply to all EU countries and markets following EU emissions directives.

Technical modifications focus on the M Hybrid system’s internal combustion engine and include optimized engine control, improved exhaust aftertreatment, and implementation of the Miller combustion process. The V8 engine output in the M5 adjusts from 430 kW/585 hp to 400 kW/544 hp, though total system output remains at 535 kW/727 hp due to software-optimized electric drive integration.

The BMW XM Label retains its 550 kW/748 hp system output, maintaining its position as the most powerful BMW M production model. Updated M5 production begins March 2026, with the XM Label following in April 2026.

Additional Spring 2026 Updates

The BMW 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupé receive 2-zone automatic air conditioning as standard equipment. Both models gain access to BMW Individual Tanzanite Blue metallic exterior color when paired with the optional Black roof. The 1 Series with M Sport package and M135 xDrive add Cape York Green metallic as a new color option.

BMW 4 Series Coupé, Convertible, and Gran Coupé models with M Sport package can now be specified with optional M Carbon mirror caps. This option excludes M Performance variants, which offer specific mirror caps through the M Carbon package.

The Tyre Repair Kit Plus becomes standard equipment on the following models:

  • BMW 2 Series Active Tourer plug-in hybrid
  • BMW 5 Series Sedan (wheel dependent)
  • BMW X3
  • BMW 7 Series
  • BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé
  • BMW iX

All BMW models receive the redesigned BMW emblem on the hood starting February 2026, coinciding with the transition to the updated M logo.

All spring 2026 models enter production in March 2026.
