BMW iX3 50 xDrive Hits U.S. at $61,500 With 434-Mile EPA Range

The 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive will launch in the U.S. on September 25 at $61,500 plus destination, with EPA-estimated range up to 434 miles and 400 kW DC fast charging.

The 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive will start at $61,500 plus $1,350 destination and handling when it reaches U.S. retailers in late September, with an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles. The pricing and range figures, announced by BMW on May 7, mark the first hard U.S. market data for the automaker’s debut Neue Klasse model. BMW also opened its Build Your Own configurator and a $1,000 reservation portal on bmwusa.com. The iX3 is the first series-production vehicle on BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive platform, which the company has positioned as its electrification reset.

EPA Range Beats Earlier WLTP-to-EPA Estimates

The 434-mile EPA figure applies to the iX3 50 xDrive equipped with 20-inch summer tires, available as a no-cost option. The 20-inch all-season tires that ship as standard reduce range to 383 miles. Twenty-one-inch summer and all-season options return 398 and 399 miles respectively, while the 22-inch summer package is rated at 392 miles.

The headline 434-mile figure compares with the earlier provisional WLTP range of up to 805 km (500 miles) cited at the iX3’s IAA Mobility 2025 reveal. EPA cycles typically return more conservative results than WLTP, and the U.S. number lands roughly 13% below the top WLTP figure — within the range gap industry analysts generally expect between the two protocols.

800V Architecture and 400 kW Charging

The iX3 50 xDrive uses BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, paired with new high-energy-density cylindrical battery cells and an 800V electrical architecture. BMW says the platform reduces drivetrain energy losses by 40% versus the previous generation, weight by 10%, and manufacturing costs by 20%.

A peak DC charging rate of 400 kW lets drivers add an estimated 185 miles of range in 10 minutes, or charge from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes at an 800V station. The vehicle ships with a NACS port as standard, aligning with the broader U.S. industry shift to the Tesla-developed connector. Bidirectional charging is included, supporting Vehicle-to-Load applications.

Option packages include the Comfort Package at $1,500, the Driving Assistance Professional Package at $2,500, the M Sport Package at $2,500, and the M Sport Professional Package at $4,000. The Technology Package adds the BMW 3D Head-up Display and Harman/Kardon Premium Sound for $1,900, or $1,200 when paired with M Sport Professional. A trailer hitch is offered as a standalone option at $750.

What the U.S. Launch Means for BMW’s EV Lineup

The September U.S. launch follows European deliveries that began in March 2026. BMW reported more than 50,000 European iX3 orders by the end of Q1 2026, with fully electric variants accounting for over half of all X3 orders. The iX3 also took home both the 2026 World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle awards in April. BMW has indicated that Neue Klasse technologies — the Gen6 eDrive system, Panoramic iDrive, and Heart of Joy control unit — will scale across 40 new or updated models by 2027.
