The BMW Group is showcasing the new BMW iX3 and its associated technologies at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026. This vehicle serves as the initial deployment of the Neue Klasse architecture, marking a shift in the company’s electrification and digitalization strategies. The demonstration is located at the BMW booth in the Silver Lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Highlights
- First integration of AI-powered BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant using Alexa + technology.
- Introduction of the sixth-generation BMW eDrive Technology.
- Deployment of the new BMW Panoramic iDrive display concept.
- Neue Klasse technologies will scale to 40 models by 2027.
Digital Interface and AI Integration
A primary focus of the presentation is the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which now incorporates Alexa + technology. This development makes BMW the first automaker to integrate this specific Amazon technology into its vehicles. The system utilizes generative AI to enable conversational capabilities beyond standard voice commands.
The technology aims to provide context-aware, personalized interactions that allow drivers to maintain focus on the road. This voice interaction system is also being demonstrated at Amazon’s Devices & Services Exhibit in the Venetian Hotel.
The vehicle also features the BMW Panoramic iDrive, a new display and operating concept originally revealed at CES 2025. This system functions within the BMW Operating System X, which supports an evolving entertainment and application ecosystem.
Powertrain and Dynamics
The iX3 introduces the sixth generation of BMW eDrive Technology. The vehicle’s driving dynamics are managed by a system referred to as the “Heart of Joy”. Additionally, the model incorporates BMW Symbiotic Drive to facilitate seamless driver assistance functions.
Strategic Model Expansion
The launch of the iX3 signals a broader transformation for the BMW Group regarding circularity and digitalization. The innovations presented in the iX3 establish the technical foundation for the brand’s future lineup.
Management plans to incorporate Neue Klasse technologies into 40 new models and model updates between now and 2027. Prior to its public release, the vehicle received recognition from multiple industry outlets, including Time Magazine and Top Gear.
