ChargePoint has launched a new low-cost Level 2 charger, priced at $699, aimed at making fleet electrification more accessible for small businesses. The CPF50 charger offers fleet operators an affordable entry point to electric vehicle (EV) charging, complete with access to ChargePoint’s advanced fleet and telematics software. This move supports ChargePoint’s mission to enable a seamless and cost-effective transition to electric vehicles for fleet operators.
Key Highlights:
- Affordable Charging Solution: Priced at $699, the CPF50 charger lowers the entry barrier for small and medium-sized fleets.
- Advanced Fleet Management: ChargePoint’s software provides real-time vehicle readiness, power usage tracking, and energy management tools.
- Scalable Flexibility: Supports multiple charging configurations and power sharing for optimized charging costs.
- Commitment to Sustainability: Aids fleet operators in meeting emissions reduction targets by transitioning to electric vehicles.
Flexible and affordable, ChargePoint’s CPF50 provides fleet operators a practical and scalable solution to electrify their vehicles while maximizing the benefits of going electric. By bundling the Level 2 charger with ChargePoint’s fleet management software, operators can optimize their total cost of ownership (TCO) with tools like real-time visibility of vehicle readiness, power usage tracking, and energy management to achieve substantial fuel savings. The platform supports power sharing via the cloud, reducing costs and optimizing battery health, and can be equipped with either J1772 or NACS connectors.
ChargePoint CEO Rick Wilmer emphasized, “With our lowest cost charger for commercial vehicles we have a solution that makes charging more accessible for small businesses who want to electrify their fleet, or for large fleets that are focused on reducing total cost of ownership.”
The transportation sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the U.S., accounting for nearly 30% of total emissions. Fleet electrification is seen as a key step towards reducing these emissions and achieving federal sustainability targets. The arrival of new electric vehicles across light, medium, and heavy-duty categories is accelerating the shift towards electrified fleets in North America and Europe.
ChargePoint expects that Megawatt charging will significantly boost the viability of electric long-haul transport, allowing heavy-duty vehicles to charge rapidly, with chargers delivering energy up to 20 times faster than existing DC chargers for passenger cars. This technology will help long-haul trucks recharge in under an hour, taking in energy at levels equivalent to powering a sports venue like Yankee Stadium on game day.
As more electric vehicles enter the market, ChargePoint aims to address diverse fleet needs, from the CPF50 to Megawatt Charging Solutions, with a leading portfolio of software and hardware products. ChargePoint’s fleet software serves as the backbone for managing fleet optimization—whether managing 3 vehicles or 3,000.
