CTtransit has strategically partnered with The Mobility House to enhance the charging operations of their electric buses using ChargePilot® at three pivotal sites in Connecticut. This initiative spans Stamford, Hartford, and Hamden, and involves the management of 23 high-capacity ABB 150kW HVC chargers already deployed by CTtransit. ChargePilot® is set to optimize charging times to tap into lower energy costs and align with bus operation schedules, ensuring the electric buses are charged efficiently and ready for service.
Key Highlights
- Strategic locations: Electric bus charging will be managed at three key sites: Stamford, Hartford, and Hamden.
- Managed Charging: ChargePilot® will utilize smart charging strategies to avoid peak time-of-use rates and ensure cost-effective energy usage.
- Integration with Operations: ChargePilot® will be integrated with CTtransit’s fleet operations software to optimize charging in relation to fleet schedules.
- Significant Cost Savings: “We expect to save hundreds of thousands in reduced energy costs,” stated Thomas Stringer, CTtransit general manager.
- Extensive Charging Network: This project marks The Mobility House’s 100th site in North America, contributing to over 32,000 kW of total charging capacity.
“We are thrilled to be working with CTtransit to manage the charging of their electric buses,” mentioned Greg Hintler, CEO, North America of The Mobility House. He emphasized the commitment to assisting CTtransit in transitioning to zero-emission buses by 2035.
Furthermore, ChargePilot® will dynamically adjust charging operations at existing sites in Hamden and Hartford to further maximize cost efficiencies. The integration extends to optimizing charging around CTtransit’s fleet schedules, ensuring operational readiness.
