DAF Expands Electric Lineup With XG, XG⁺ Models

DAF introduces XG and XG⁺ Electric trucks with over 500 km range, LFP battery technology, and the segment's largest cabs for long-haul zero-emission transport applications.

DAF has introduced the XG and XG⁺ Electric, extending its battery-electric truck portfolio to address long-haul applications. The new models deliver over 500 kilometers of zero-emission range while offering the manufacturer’s largest cab configurations. Both trucks share powertrain architecture with the XD and XF Electric, which received the International Truck of the Year 2026 award.

Highlights

  • Range capability: Over 500 km per charge with five battery packs; daily operation exceeding 1,000 km possible with optimized charging schedules
  • Powertrain output: PACCAR EX D2 motor delivers 270–350 kW (370–480 hp) and 2,400 Nm torque
  • LFP battery technology: Cobalt- and nickel-free cells with eight-year warranty support daily 100% charging without degradation concerns
  • Cab dimensions: 12.5 m³ interior volume with 2.2-meter standing height represents largest configuration in the market segment

Powertrain Specifications

The XG and XG⁺ Electric utilize DAF’s PACCAR EX D2 electric motor system. The compact powertrain integrates two separate electric motors with a three-speed transmission designed for smooth gear transitions.

Key specifications:

  • Power output: 270–350 kW (370–480 hp)
  • Torque: 2,400 Nm
  • Transmission: Integrated three-gear unit

Battery Configuration and Charging

DAF offers modular battery configurations ranging from three to five packs, with chassis positioning optimized for specific applications. The five-pack configuration enables the 500-plus kilometer range figure.

Charging performance for the three-pack configuration reaches 10% to 80% capacity in approximately 45 minutes. DAF states that optimal vehicle and charging planning enables over 1,000 fully electric kilometers daily, positioning both models for international transport operations.

LFP Battery Technology

The XG and XG⁺ Electric utilize lithium iron phosphate cells, consistent with DAF’s other battery-electric models. The technology provides several operational advantages:

  • Composition: Cobalt- and nickel-free chemistry
  • Thermal stability: High thermal tolerance reduces cooling requirements
  • Charging flexibility: Supports daily 100% charging without accelerated degradation
  • Warranty: Eight-year coverage

Cab Design and Driver Environment

The XG and XG⁺ cabs extend 33 centimeters beyond the XF platform. Combined with increased height, total interior volume reaches 12.5 cubic meters with standing height up to 2.2 meters. Bed width measures 80 centimeters across the full length.

Aerodynamic features contributing to efficiency include a tapered cab profile, curved windscreen, side skirts, deflectors, fenders, and digital camera mirror replacements.

Vehicle Configurations and Support Services

Both models are available as 4×2 tractors and 6×2 rigid chassis with steered trailing axles. DAF’s broader electric truck lineup spans the 12-, 16-, and 19-tonne XB Electric for urban distribution through the XD and XF Electric for regional and longer-haul operations.

Supporting services include PACCAR Power Solutions charging infrastructure and energy storage systems, DAF MultiSupport maintenance contracts, PACCAR Connect fleet management, and PACCAR Financial financing options.
