VEV has joined Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland’s panel of charging partners, backed by the company’s analysis of more than 15,000 heavy trucks that found 46% could go electric today. The arrangement centers on VEV’s proprietary VEV IQ platform, which the company says connects vehicles, chargers and energy use in a single system so fleet operators can see their fleet and power demand live. VEV will support Volvo Trucks customers and dealers as more operators weigh bringing electric trucks into their fleets.

What Does VEV Provide to Volvo Trucks Customers?
VEV describes its offer as an end-to-end solution covering the planning, installation, management, maintenance and optimization of charging infrastructure and the power requirements that come with it. The company positions the service for logistics firms under pressure to decarbonize without sacrificing efficiency and uptime.
The VEV IQ platform sits at the center of the offer. According to VEV, it brings vehicles, chargers and energy consumption together in one system, giving operators a real-time picture of both fleet activity and site power demand.
Nearly Half of Heavy Trucks Could Switch Today
VEV’s analysis of more than 15,000 heavy goods vehicles — HGVs, the UK term for heavy-duty trucks — found that almost half, 46%, could go electric now, particularly where vehicles return to base or run predictable routes. The same research put roughly 35% of heavy-payload operations in the same category, which the company says points to room for immediate progress across the sector.

Volvo Trucks Adds VEV to Its Charging Panel

The addition comes as Volvo Trucks brings its next-generation FH, FM and FMX Electric models to market, expanding the range of applications operators can consider electrifying.
Support From Feasibility Study to Ongoing Optimization
VEV says it works with customers at each stage of electrification, from initial feasibility studies and site assessments through charger installation, energy management and continuing optimization. The stated goal is charging infrastructure that can scale as a fleet’s electric share grows.
The Volvo Trucks arrangement follows VEV’s earlier partnership with Webfleet, which paired telematics data with VEV’s fleet-transition services.
