Emporia Energy has unveiled the Emporia Pro, a Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charger designed to deliver high-speed charging without requiring costly electrical panel upgrades. This innovative charger, equipped with PowerSmart Load Management technology, enables homeowners to charge EVs efficiently while avoiding overload risks, making EV adoption more accessible and cost-effective.

Key Highlights

  • High-Speed Charging: Delivers up to 48 amps (hardwired) or 40 amps (NEMA 14-50), offering up to 9x faster charging than standard outlets.
  • PowerSmart Technology: Dynamically adjusts charging rates based on real-time data from the Vue Home Energy Monitor, preventing electrical panel overload.
  • Cost Savings: Eliminates the need for expensive panel upgrades, which can cost thousands for nearly 50% of U.S. households.
  • Smart Energy Management: Integrates with the Emporia app for real-time energy monitoring, solar charging, and time-of-use optimization.
  • Versatile Installation: Supports hardwired or NEMA outlet setups, with a $100 installation credit through Emporia’s partner, Treehouse.
  • Safety and Durability: UL-certified, Energystar-rated, and NEMA 4-rated for indoor/outdoor use, with a 25-foot charging cord.
  • Warranty and Support: Includes a three-year warranty and U.S.-based customer service in Littleton, Colorado.

The Emporia Pro addresses a significant barrier to EV adoption: the high cost of electrical upgrades for homes with limited panel capacity, particularly those with 100A service. By integrating with the Vue Home Energy Monitor, the charger monitors household energy usage and adjusts charging to stay within safe limits. This ensures maximum charging speed while preventing tripped breakers or overloads.

Priced at $599, the Emporia Pro is compatible with all EVs using a J1772 connector (Tesla NACS connector forthcoming) and pairs with smart home devices like solar panels for enhanced efficiency. Homeowners can monitor energy consumption, charge with excess solar power, and automate usage via the Emporia app, optimizing costs based on utility rate plans.

“The Emporia Pro is a game-changer, combining high-speed charging with intelligent energy management,” said Shawn McLaughlin, CEO of Emporia. “It empowers homeowners to save on utility bills while enjoying the convenience of at-home charging.”

With features like a wall-mounted cable holder and a weather-resistant design, the charger is built for practicality and longevity. Emporia’s commitment to affordability and sustainability positions the Emporia Pro as a leader in home energy solutions, available now at www.emporiaenergy.com.
