EVB Ultra-Slim DC EV Charger Wins Design Awards

EVB's 150 kW BUDC ultra-slim dual-connector DC charger has won the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026 and Red Dot Product Design 2026, targeting space-limited European fast-charging sites with a 100 mm body.

EVB’s BUDC ultra-slim dual-connector DC fast charger, a 150 kW unit with a body roughly 3.9 inches (100 mm) thick, has received both the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026 and the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026. The Wenzhou, China-based charging infrastructure provider says the BUDC was recognized for its combination of industrial design, engineering performance and deployment value. The company positions the flat form factor as an answer to space-constrained European DC fast-charging sites, where wall-mounted or embedded installation can replace a freestanding cabinet.

Where Does an Ultra-Slim DC Fast Charger Fit?

EVB says the BUDC targets a recurring problem in European DC fast-charging projects: installing high-power equipment where footprint is limited. The company lists urban streets, parking facilities, bus depots, truck depots and fleet sites as intended locations, all of which benefit from a charger that can be mounted flat against a wall or embedded rather than sited as a standalone unit. A similar space-first design approach has been taken by other slim-format DC chargers recognized in recent award cycles.

BUDC Technical Configuration

The charger can be configured with dual CCS2 connectors and carries an IP65 enclosure rating for outdoor installation. According to EVB, one connector can supply up to 150 kW, while power allocation distributes the available output when two vehicles are connected simultaneously.

The unit uses a liquid-cooling system, and its AC, DC and control modules are independently replaceable — a layout the company says simplifies maintenance and supports uptime. Compact DC units built for tight-space fleet and campus sites have become a distinct product category as operators look beyond highway-scale installations.

“Winning both the iF DESIGN AWARD and the Red Dot Award confirms that charging infrastructure can deliver strong performance without compromising the spaces in which it is installed,” said Jundan Wang, CEO of EVB. “The BUDC was developed to help charge point operators and fleet customers use limited space more efficiently while providing a reliable and intuitive charging experience.”

The BUDC sits within EVB’s broader DC EV charging lineup, which the company says spans 3.7 kW AC chargers up to 2,000 kW megawatt charging systems. Across its European models, EVB offers configurations with CE marking and TÜV certification, plus support for OCPP 1.6J/2.0.1 and ISO 15118 Plug & Charge.

Depending on model and project configuration, the company states it can also supply MID-compliant metering, credit and debit card payment, and contactless payment for European charge point operators and public charging networks.
