PowerGo has added fast chargers rated up to 150 kW at Jumbo supermarkets across the Netherlands, extending a supermarket charging partnership the two companies began in 2022. The new sites let EV drivers charge while they shop. According to PowerGo, the chargers are also open to the public 24 hours a day for drivers who only want to charge.
Highlights
- 150 kW maximum capacity at Jumbo Harderwijk (Nassaulaan), the highest-rated site in this batch
- Four 90 kW charging points at Jumbo Nieuwerkerk
- 50 kW charging points at Jumbo Beek, Valkenswaard, Bakel, Eersel and Emmen
- Full investment, installation and operation handled by PowerGo
Where Are the New Jumbo Chargers?
PowerGo installed the Limburg and North Brabant sites this summer. The Gelderland, Drenthe and Zeeland locations were completed just before summer.
| Jumbo Location | Province | Charging Points | Max Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beek | Limburg | 2 | 50 kW |
| Valkenswaard (Leenderweg) | North Brabant | 2 | 50 kW |
| Bakel | North Brabant | 2 | 50 kW |
| Eersel | North Brabant | 2 | 50 kW |
| Harderwijk (Nassaulaan) | Gelderland | 2 | 150 kW |
| Emmen (Wilhelminastraat) | Drenthe | 2 | 50 kW |
| Nieuwerkerk | Zeeland | 4 | 90 kW |
How the PowerGo–Jumbo Deployment Model Works
PowerGo designs each site individually. The company says it bases each design on the surroundings, available space, expected usage, grid connection and the supermarket’s requirements. The chargers use Jumbo’s brand styling.
Under the arrangement, PowerGo covers the full investment and also installs and operates the charging infrastructure. The company used the same turnkey approach in its fast chargers at PLUS supermarkets in Drenthe.
“Together with Jumbo, we ensure more EV drivers can charge while they shop. This offers an additional service to customers,” says Bram Vredevoort, Project Manager at PowerGo. “By installing chargers at places EV drivers already visit, such as supermarkets, we want to make electric driving and fast charging close to home more accessible. Anyone who simply wants to charge is also welcome to use the new fast chargers: they are publicly accessible 24 hours a day.”
The Jumbo network also includes higher-power sites, such as the ultra-fast charging location at Jumbo Bedum.
Solar-Matched Electricity
PowerGo is a subsidiary of PowerField, a Dutch company that generates, stores and trades solar energy. The company says it uses Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) to match each charging session with green electricity from PowerField’s solar parks in the Netherlands.
