Geely Launches EX5 SUV in UK, Accelerating European EV Ambitions

Geely’s UK debut of the all-electric EX5 underscores the company’s growing influence in Europe’s EV market, backed by an ambitious expansion plan and deep-rooted British partnerships.

  • Geely Auto introduces the EX5 all-electric SUV to the UK market.
  • Targets 100,000 annual UK sales by 2030 and 100 sales outlets by 2026.
  • Plans 15 new EVs for Europe within five years and a network of 1,000 dealerships.
  • Builds on existing ties with British brands including LEVC, Lotus, and Aston Martin.

Geely Auto has officially launched the Geely EX5, an award-winning all-electric SUV, in the United Kingdom — marking a significant milestone in the company’s European expansion strategy. The debut reinforces Geely’s long-term commitment to sustainable mobility and its ambition to become a mainstream automotive brand in Europe’s rapidly growing EV segment.

Geely Auto aims to achieve 100,000 annual vehicle sales in the UK by 2030, supported by a nationwide retail and service network of 100 outlets by 2026. The brand plans to establish an advanced parts and maintenance infrastructure to ensure comprehensive support and customer satisfaction across the region.

“Entering the UK market marks a significant milestone in deepening Geely’s European strategy,” said Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group. “We are committed to delivering innovative and sustainable products while building enduring relationships with our customers and partners.”

Before entering the UK, Geely had already built a foothold in 12 European countries, including Poland, Greece, and Croatia. Over the next five years, the automaker plans to launch 15 new models tailored for European consumers and establish a network of more than 1,000 sales outlets across key markets such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.

Globally, the EX5 has gained strong traction in 33 countries, achieving notable success in markets like Australia, where sales have surged since its March 2025 debut, and Brazil, where it topped its segment for two consecutive months.

Geely’s expansion builds on the long-standing presence of its parent company, Geely Holding Group, in the UK. Since acquiring the London Taxi Company in 2006 — now LEVC, maker of zero-emission taxis — Geely has strengthened its investment portfolio with stakes in Lotus and Aston Martin, accelerating innovation in electric and performance vehicle technologies.
