Genesis Opens Canadian Pre-Orders for GV60 Magma High-Performance EV

Genesis Canada has opened pre-orders for the GV60 Magma, the brand's first high-performance production EV. The dual-motor SUV delivers up to 650 horsepower with deliveries expected later in 2026.

Genesis Canada has opened pre-orders for the GV60 Magma, the first production model in the brand’s new high-performance Magma sub-brand. The dual-motor electric SUV produces up to 478 kW (650 horsepower) in Boost Mode and is expected to arrive in Canada later this year, with pricing to be announced. Genesis Canada confirmed the launch following a national media tour through Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Highlights

  • Dual-motor powertrain rated at 448 kW (609 hp) standard, rising to 478 kW (650 hp) and 790 Nm in Boost Mode
  • 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) in 10.9 seconds with Launch Control; top speed of 264 km/h (164 mph)
  • First production model from Genesis Magma, the brand’s new high-performance division
  • Distributor tour rolling out across Genesis retailers in Vancouver, Victoria, and Kelowna through May

Powertrain and Performance Specs

The GV60 Magma uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout that generates a combined 448 kW (609 hp) and 740 Nm of peak torque under standard operation. Activating Boost Mode raises output to 478 kW (650 hp) and 790 Nm for approximately 15 seconds, sharpening throttle response and acceleration.

Genesis says the rear motor’s peak output range has been extended to maintain consistent power delivery during sustained high-load driving. With Launch Control engaged, the vehicle accelerates from a standstill to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.9 seconds. Top speed is rated at 264 km/h (164 mph).

The car is the production realization of the GV60 Magma Concept first shown in 2024, and is positioned among the highest-performing models within the broader Hyundai Motor Group portfolio. Genesis has previously confirmed the GV60 Magma’s final validation testing across proving grounds in Sweden, California, New Zealand, and Korea.

Magma Brand Positioning

Genesis defines the Magma program around three attributes: design (“Unspoken Dominance”), driving sensation (“Captivating Control”), and user experience (“Sharpened Immersion”). The GV60 Magma applies these attributes to the existing GV60 platform, with a wider, lower stance and a focus on driver-intent-aligned vehicle response.

“The GV60 Magma is a landmark vehicle for Genesis and for the Canadian luxury market,” said Eric Marshall, director of Genesis Canada. “As the first Magma model to reach Genesis guests, GV60 Magma reinforces our commitment to bringing meaningful, performance‑driven products to Canadians while continuing to push the boundaries of what luxury performance can look like in an electric vehicle.”

The GV60 Magma’s launch follows Genesis Canada’s earlier rollout of the redesigned GV60 in the Canadian and Korean markets, which introduced an 84 kWh battery and updated styling.

Canadian Rollout

The brand’s national media tour included stops at Genesis stores in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, hosting more than 30 media representatives across the three events. The vehicle now moves to a distributor tour with confirmed appearances at:

  • Genesis Downtown Vancouver — April 22
  • Genesis Vancouver — April 28
  • Genesis Victoria — May 6
  • Genesis Kelowna — May 12

Genesis Canada said additional dates and locations will be announced in the coming weeks. Pre-orders are open through Genesis.ca, with deliveries expected later in 2026.
