GM Energy has announced the launch of the GM Energy PowerBank, a new stationary storage solution designed to store and transfer energy for electric vehicle (EV) owners across the United States. The PowerBank provides the ability to store energy from the grid, integrate with solar power equipment, and even act as backup power during outages. GM Energy has also expanded access to its energy management products nationwide.

The PowerBank is available in two capacity variants, and customers can combine units for extended power. This product is part of GM Energy’s broader home energy management offering, which includes EV charging solutions and solar integration options.

Key Highlights

  • New GM Energy PowerBank: Available in 10.6 kWh and 17.7 kWh variants.
  • Backup Power Capability: Provides backup power during outages or offsets high electricity rates.
  • Modular Storage: Two 17.7 kWh units can be combined for 35.4 kWh of storage, enough to power an average home for up to 20 hours.
  • Part of GM Energy Home System: PowerBank is included in the bundle with a PowerShift charger and Vehicle-to-Home Enablement kit.
  • Solar Integration: Compatibility with solar systems through preferred installer Qmerit.

The GM Energy PowerBank aims to provide greater flexibility for consumers looking to manage their energy use effectively. Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy, emphasized, “The flexibility of our energy management tools, combined with one of the market’s largest lineups of vehicle-to-home-capable EVs, gives our customers more control over their energy use, helping to mitigate the impact of power outages, integrating renewable energy options, and unlocking additional values.”

For solar power integration, GM Energy has partnered with Qmerit to provide installation assessments and quotes. As with existing GM Energy products, the PowerBank is compatible with GM’s brand mobile apps, ensuring seamless energy management.
