Honda introduced the EV Fun Concept, the company’s first electric sports model, which is scheduled for commercialization in 2025. This naked sports model is equivalent to a mid-sized internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle, offering a unique experience with a fixed battery. Honda aims to deliver an enhanced emotional and riding experience by blending traditional motorcycle capabilities, such as smooth riding, agile turning, and effective braking, with the benefits of electric technology like vibration-free and quiet operation.
The EV Urban Concept embodies Honda’s vision for future urban electric mobility. Featuring a focus on connectivity and function-driven design, it includes a battery pack developed in-house by Honda. The model aims to meet the mobility needs of urban environments with its efficient and intuitive technologies, which align closely with Honda’s goals of sustainable and widespread mobility.
Honda has positioned 2024 as the inaugural year for its electric motorcycle portfolio, with full-scale market entry taking place through 2026, and a subsequent period dedicated to expanding its electric offerings. With these concept models, Honda is on track to introduce 30 electric motorcycle models globally by 2030, aligning with its long-term objective of achieving carbon neutrality for motorcycles in the 2040s.
The EV Fun Concept also features Honda’s expertise in automobile technologies. It has a CCS2 quick charger-compatible battery, allowing for fast charging while keeping the overall weight balanced for maneuverability. It offers a cruising range of over 100 km, making it ideal for city travel. This model represents Honda’s ambition to deliver a new level of enjoyment and freedom for riders, enhancing the motorcycle lifestyle with a distinct electric experience.
The EV Urban Concept represents a shift in Honda’s approach to electric urban mobility. It combines Honda’s design philosophy with innovative human-machine interfaces and software-hardware integration, offering new possibilities for urban transportation. The goal is to create accessible, connected mobility solutions that resonate with individuals and enhance their everyday experiences.
With these new models, Honda aims to lead the electric motorcycle market by developing a comprehensive lineup that meets the diverse needs of riders, promoting sustainability, and expanding its market share in the electric segment. Through these efforts, Honda plans to be at the forefront of the electric motorcycle industry.
