Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the STARIA Electric at the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, 2026, introducing the company’s first fully electric multi-purpose vehicle. The model applies Hyundai’s established 800-volt electrical architecture—previously deployed in the IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9—to the MPV segment, targeting families, shuttle operators, and commercial fleet applications.
Highlights
- 84-kWh battery and 160-kW motor deliver an estimated WLTP range of 400 kilometers with 10-80% DC fast charging in approximately 20 minutes
- 800-volt architecture enables high power flow with reduced heat generation, supporting repeated fast-charging cycles
- Two configurations available: 7-seat Luxury variant and 9-seat Wagon variant, with up to 2,000 kg braked towing capacity
- Production begins at Hyundai’s Ulsan, Korea facility, with Korea and Europe sales launching in H1 2026

Powertrain and Charging Specifications
The STARIA Electric pairs an 84-kWh battery pack with a 160-kW (218 PS) front-mounted electric motor. Hyundai’s 800-volt electrical system—uncommon in the MPV segment—reduces thermal buildup during high-power operations, enabling consistent performance across extended journeys and repeated charging sessions.
DC fast charging reaches 10-80% state of charge in approximately 20 minutes under optimal conditions. An 11-kW AC onboard charger handles home and workplace charging. A heated charging-port cover addresses cold-weather usability concerns.
The powertrain specifications include:
- Battery capacity: 84 kWh
- Motor output: 160 kW (218 PS)
- Drive configuration: Front-wheel drive
- Estimated WLTP range: Up to 400 km
- Towing capacity: Up to 2,000 kg (braked)

Vehicle Configuration and Interior Layout
STARIA Electric launches in two seating configurations designed for distinct use cases. The 7-seat Luxury variant targets private and family applications, offering 435 liters of cargo capacity behind the third row. The 9-seat Wagon variant accommodates larger groups and shuttle operations, with cargo capacity reaching 1,303 liters behind the third row.
Both variants feature dual sliding side doors and a lift-up tailgate as standard equipment. The Luxury trim adds electrically operated doors and tailgate. Sliding and foldable seating enables rapid reconfiguration between passenger and cargo priorities.
Interior comfort features vary by trim level:
- Wagon variant: Optional heated and ventilated front seats
- Luxury variant: Standard heated and ventilated front and second-row seats

Technology and Connectivity
The STARIA Electric incorporates Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system, displayed across dual 12.3-inch screens for instrumentation and infotainment. Over-the-air software updates maintain electronic control systems without dealer visits.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality provides external power output for tools, camping equipment, or electronic devices. High-power 100W USB ports and Digital Key smartphone integration are standard features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity eliminates cable requirements.
A rear-view camera system transmits live images of rear passengers to the driver’s display, while an integrated talk function amplifies driver voice through rear speakers for communication with second and third-row occupants.
Driver-Assistance Technology
The STARIA Electric deploys Hyundai’s SmartSense ADAS suite, combining camera and radar-based monitoring systems.
Forward-facing systems include:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with intersection and oncoming vehicle detection
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA)
- Highway Driving Assist (HDA) combining adaptive cruise with lane guidance
- Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with traffic-adaptive speed management
- Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA)
Maneuvering and parking systems include:
- Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
- Surround View Monitor (SVM) with 360-degree camera coverage
- Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
- Driver Attention Warning with fatigue detection
Exterior and Design Elements
The STARIA Electric adopts a closed front design replacing combustion-variant air intakes, contributing to aerodynamic efficiency. A continuous horizontal light band spans the front fascia. All variants ride on 17-inch wheels optimized for efficiency and load capability.
Eight exterior colors are available: Abyss Black Pearl, Creamy White, Classy Blue Pearl, Shimmering Silver Metallic, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, Cast Iron Brown Pearl, Dynamic Yellow, and Galaxy Maroon Pearl. Interior color schemes range from Black one-tone to various two-tone combinations depending on trim level.
Production and Market Availability
Manufacturing takes place at Hyundai Motor’s Ulsan, Korea production facility. Korea and Europe represent the initial launch markets in the first half of 2026, with additional regions to follow. Detailed pricing and market-specific specifications will be announced closer to each region’s introduction date.
