Redivivus and Re-New-Able Technologies have formed a strategic alliance to introduce a new lithium-ion battery recycling operation in Illinois. This collaboration combines advanced recycling capabilities and a commitment to environmental responsibility, positioning the state as an emerging leader in sustainable energy solutions.

  • Purchase Order for Redi-Shred: A confirmed order incorporates Redivivus’ Redi-Shred process, underscoring plans for safe and efficient battery handling.
  • Localizing Processing: The approach aims to minimize logistics challenges by deploying modular units closer to feedstock suppliers and OEMs.
  • Industry Collaboration: Strengthening ties with automotive OEMs and battery manufacturers supports sustainable innovation and accelerates clean energy adoption.
  • Environmental Impact: By addressing battery waste across diverse sectors, the endeavor promotes responsible disposal and material recovery for future use.

“This partnership marks a groundbreaking moment for Illinois as we establish the state’s first lithium-ion battery recycling facility,” said Ravi Gade, Co-founder and CTO of Re-New-Able Technologies. “By setting new standards for safe battery transportation and recycling, we aim to strengthen Illinois’ position in clean energy innovation while creating a sustainable future for the battery industry. Redivivus’ expertise ensures that batteries are safely processed, and we’re honored to collaborate with their talented team.”

Beyond creating a central hub for processing batteries of any state of charge or health, the facility will assist local businesses and help address increasing battery waste in auto-wrecking yards. This proximity-based model reduces costs and bolsters safety standards by processing varied batteries at scale. According to Redivivus’ CEO Erika Guerrero, “There are very few black mass sources from the U.S. available to the market. Localizing Redi-Shred in collaboration with Re-New-Able minimizes costs and upholds the highest safety standards for processing variable batteries at scale.”

By joining forces, the two companies aim to redefine the recycling landscape through improved logistics and environmental stewardship. Their partnership offers a scalable blueprint for future ventures, highlighting the importance of localized recycling options and innovative processes in tackling modern energy challenges.
