Iberdrola | bp pulse Selects Driivz for EV Charging

Driivz will manage and optimize Iberdrola | bp pulse's 2,500-charger network across Spain and Portugal, as a new industry report finds reliability now outranks expansion as operators' top priority.

Iberdrola | bp pulse has selected Driivz to manage and optimize its network of 2,500 fast and ultra-fast EV chargers across Spain and Portugal. The deal makes Driivz the software backbone for the joint venture’s charging operations, replacing the operator’s prior systems with a platform built around real-time performance data. Driivz, a Vontier company, will supply an embedded analytics layer covering charger availability, uptime, hardware performance and charging patterns across the network. The move comes as Driivz’s newly published industry report finds that reliability has overtaken expansion as charge point operators’ top priority.

Highlights

  • Driivz will manage and optimize Iberdrola | bp pulse’s network of 2,500 fast and ultra-fast chargers across Spain and Portugal.
  • Driivz’s API-first architecture will serve as the technical foundation for future vehicle-to-grid and smart, coordinated charging capabilities.
  • Driivz’s 2026 State of EV Charging Network Operators Report found that 59% of operators cite reliability and stability as the industry’s top challenge, 59% rank utilization as the leading profitability driver, and 67% now consider AI “very important” or “critical” to growth.
  • Iberdrola | bp pulse is a 50:50 strategic alliance between Iberdrola and BP focused on high-power public charging across the Iberian Peninsula.

A Platform Shift for the Iberian Market

Iberdrola | bp pulse, the leading charge point operator across the Iberian Peninsula, serves B2C drivers, corporate fleets, and hospitality, retail and workplace customers. The company said the switch to Driivz is meant to increase commercial flexibility and reduce operational complexity across its multi-vendor, multi-market network.

“This migration is a strategic decision to build our operation on foundations that allow us to grow, innovate and deliver the reliability the Iberian market deserves,” said Federico Artes, Technology and Operations Director of Iberdrola | bp pulse for the Iberian Peninsula. “Driivz shares our conviction that data, automation and operational intelligence are the real engines of this industry. In a business where every charger is a revenue-generating asset, you can’t manage what you can’t measure. We anticipate this partnership will translate into a more reliable network for drivers, a more efficient operation for our team and a smarter grid asset for the energy ecosystem.”

Iberdrola | bp pulse will run on Driivz’s API-first architecture and dynamic energy management solution, which the company frames as the technical foundation for future capabilities including vehicle-to-grid charging and smart, coordinated charging.

Why Driivz Sees the Deal as a Bellwether

“Iberdrola | bp pulse’s selection of Driivz reflects exactly where the EV charging industry is heading,” said Shiri Levi-Laor, CEO of Driivz. “Networks of this complexity – spanning multiple markets, vendors, and customer segments – require a platform built around data and operational intelligence. That’s what Driivz delivers.”

Levi-Laor added that the company’s scalability lets operators like Iberdrola | bp pulse grow to thousands of charge points without rebuilding their technology stack, calling a frictionless charging experience “no longer a differentiator” but “what the market expects.”

Reliability Now Outranks Expansion, Report Finds

The partnership lands alongside Driivz’s 2026 State of EV Charging Network Operators Report, which surveyed the industry on its shifting priorities. The report found that 59% of operators now cite charger reliability and stability as the industry’s top challenge, while 59% separately rank increased charger utilization as the leading driver of profitability. Two-thirds of operators, 67%, now consider AI “very important” or “critical” to company growth. Driivz frames data as the common thread connecting all three priorities, underscoring the rationale behind Iberdrola | bp pulse’s decision to consolidate its network on the platform.

Driivz’s push into the Iberian market follows a string of recent operator deals, including a partnership with XLR8 America to deploy its platform across more than 5,000 U.S. sites and a deal to power Duracell E-Charge’s ultra-fast network in the UK.
