Isuzu D-Max EV Debuts in Right-Hand Drive at UK CV Show 2026

Isuzu UK has debuted the right-hand drive D-Max EV at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026, delivering 1-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing, and a 163-mile WLTP range from May 2026.

Isuzu UK has presented the right-hand drive New Isuzu D-Max EV at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2026, positioning the model as the first fully electric pick-up in the UK to combine a payload above one tonne with 3.5-tonne towing and permanent four-wheel drive. Deliveries to UK customers begin in May 2026.

Highlights

  • First fully electric commercial pick-up in the UK offering more than one tonne of payload
  • 66.9 kWh battery and dual motors delivering 149.3 kW and 347.6 Nm of torque
  • Combined WLTP range of 163 miles; DC charging from 0–80% in one hour
  • Available in eDL40 and eV-Cross trims priced from £59,995 (~$81,100 USD) excluding VAT

Powertrain and Performance

The D-Max EV uses a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with dual permanent-magnet synchronous motors, one on each axle. The front HC11 motor contributes 45.9 kW and 115 Nm, while the rear HD11 motor produces 103.4 kW and 232.6 Nm, for a combined 149.3 kW and 347.6 Nm of torque.

Isuzu quotes a 0–62 mph time of 10.1 seconds and a top speed above 80 mph, with a measured moving sound level of 67 dBA. The full-time four-wheel-drive system offers four selectable regenerative braking levels, and an optional Eco drive mode is available to extend range.

Range and Charging

The vehicle delivers a WLTP combined range of 163.2 miles and a WLTP city range of 223.9 miles. As with all WLTP figures, real-world range will vary with payload, towing, temperature, and driving conditions.

On AC power, the D-Max EV accepts up to 11 kW from a three-phase public supply, completing a 0–100% charge in approximately six hours. Home charging at 7 kW on a single-phase 240 V supply takes around 10 hours. DC rapid charging at up to 50 kW brings the battery from 20% to 80% in one hour.

Chassis, Capability, and Off-Road Specification

The EV is built on the current-generation D-Max ladder chassis, reinforced for heavy payloads and fitted with a new De Dion semi-independent rear suspension. Isuzu states the new setup reduces cabin noise and vibration under full acceleration by up to 10%, compared with the prior layout.

Maximum payload is 1,060 kg, with a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg and a Gross Train Weight of 6,000 kg. Off-road specifications include 210 mm of ground clearance, 600 mm wading depth, a 30.5-degree approach angle, and a 24.2-degree departure angle. The vehicle retains the D-Max Rough Terrain Mode traction control system.

Prior to its UK debut, Isuzu UK trialled the left-hand drive version with National Grid Electricity Distribution across demanding UK terrains, including towing and winching scenarios.
