Exuberant Modernism Design Philosophy
Type 00 is a bold statement that embodies Jaguar’s latest creative philosophy, Exuberant Modernism. It combines fearless creativity, modernist lines, and compelling design to create an unmistakable presence. This concept car is more than just a vehicle; it represents a complete transformation of the Jaguar brand towards a future-driven luxury experience, underlined by cutting-edge electric technology.
Exterior Highlights
The Type 00 defies electric vehicle conventions with its dramatic silhouette featuring a long bonnet, fastback profile, and 23-inch alloy wheels. The glassless rear tailgate and panoramic roof add to the sculptural feel of the design, while flush surfaces create a modern and minimalist aesthetic. The leaper logo, laser-etched into brass ingots on each side of the car, reflects Jaguar’s heritage and commitment to craftsmanship.
The vehicle was presented in two distinct colors: Miami Pink, inspired by the Art Deco heritage of Miami, and London Blue, a nod to Jaguar’s British roots. Each of these colors represents the balance between Jaguar’s traditional elegance and its bold new design direction.
Interior Features
The interior of the Type 00 continues the theme of modernist opulence, with a cabin crafted from unique materials like brass, travertine stone, and woven textiles. Butterfly doors and a pantograph tailgate reveal an awe-inspiring interior, featuring floating instrument panels and a 3.2-meter brass spine that runs through the cabin, evoking a sense of artistry and craftsmanship.
Innovative deployable technologies blend into the interior design, emphasizing a balance between modern luxury and functionality. The Clearsight display replaces the traditional rear-view mirror, ensuring improved visibility, while screens glide seamlessly from the dashboard when needed.
Jaguar’s Electric-Only Future
The Type 00 is a precursor to Jaguar’s transformation into an electric-only brand. The first production car, expected in late 2025, will be a four-door electric GT featuring the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). It is projected to offer a range of up to 770 km (478 miles) on the WLTP cycle, and 430 miles (692 km) on the EPA cycle, with rapid charging capabilities that can add 200 miles in just 15 minutes.
Symbols of Change
The Type 00 showcases several key elements of Jaguar’s new identity, including the device mark—a modernist, geometric signature inspired by Malcolm Sayer’s timeless designs—and the leaper emblem, representing the brand’s forward-facing outlook. The Strikethrough graphic used on the rear also symbolizes Jaguar’s ethos of rejecting convention and striving for originality.
Art and Creativity at Miami Art Week
Jaguar chose Miami Art Week to unveil the Type 00 as a reflection of its connection with art and creativity. The car was presented through an immersive experience, showcasing Jaguar’s new visual language and its dedication to artistic endeavor. Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s Managing Director, noted, “Our presence at Miami Art Week emphasizes Jaguar’s purpose as an advocate for art and creativity in all its forms.”
The Type 00 embodies Jaguar’s effort to merge technology, design, and artistic influence, and its appearance at Miami Art Week sets the tone for the brand’s future as a creative, electric luxury automotive leader.
