Kia America made an exciting return to the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, unveiling two customized EV concept vehicles: the EV9 ADVNTR Concept SUV and the PV5 WKNDR Concept Van. Designed by Kia Design Center America (KDCA), these concepts highlight the brand’s vision for rugged capability, versatility, and sustainability in electric vehicles, showcasing an adventurous approach to mobility.
Key Highlights:
- EV9 ADVNTR Concept SUV: A three-row all-electric SUV designed for off-road adventures, featuring custom front and rear facias, reinforced rocker panels, and a 3-inch lift for added capability.
- PV5 WKNDR Concept Van: A versatile electric van with modular interior, off-road tires, solar panels, and unique hydro turbine wheels, ideal for extended outdoor getaways.
- Beyond Organization: Kia integrated lifestyle products for better gear management, making camping more organized and efficient.
- Mythology-Themed Custom Models: Kia also presented one-of-a-kind versions of the Sportage, Telluride, and Sorento based on figures from Greek mythology, each showcasing distinctive features and accessories.
Kia presented these vehicles at SEMA, the renowned annual showcase for automotive accessories and concept vehicles that push the limits of performance, styling, and capability. At this year’s event, the designers from KDCA brought forward their vision of future-proof, versatile electric vehicles designed for maximum engagement with the outdoors.
EV9 ADVNTR Concept SUV
The EV9 ADVNTR Concept represents the ultimate adventurous spirit in an all-electric three-row SUV, designed for those who want to go beyond the beaten path. It features a custom exterior with rugged front and rear facias, reinforced rocker panels, and an off-road-focused 3-inch lift. The EV9 ADVNTR is equipped with heavy-duty tires and a custom roof rack to support everything from luggage to roof-mounted tents, making it ideal for off-the-grid adventures. Built to withstand challenging terrain, this concept represents Kia’s bold approach to electric mobility with a clear focus on outdoor utility.
PV5 WKNDR Concept Van
The PV5 WKNDR Concept Van is a highly adaptable EV based on Kia’s Purpose Beyond Vehicles (PBV) line, designed for both small businesses and adventurous escapes. Outfitted with off-road tires and a modular interior, it maximizes space and functionality like a Swiss Army Knife on wheels. The PV5 also introduces a unique “Gear Head” feature—a storage solution offering off-board, sheltered storage space, which can be adapted into a mobile pantry for outdoor cooking. With solar panels and hydro turbine wheels, the PV5 ensures self-sufficiency on long outdoor trips, including an onboard compressor for inflating mattresses or adjusting tire pressure. It brings a level of versatility that suits both work and play.
Beyond Organization Concept
Kia showcased the “Beyond Organization” concept at SEMA, featuring products designed to improve gear management and camping setup efficiency. The concept aims to tackle the common issues associated with disorganized gear, helping customers spend more time enjoying their adventures and less time on setup and breakdown.
Mythology-Themed Custom SUVs
In addition to the new EV concepts, Kia presented three mythology-themed versions of their popular SUVs:
- Sportage | THETIS Goddess of Water: Designed in partnership with Rhino Rack, this model includes custom white water rapids wrap, rose gold trim, and an off-road-ready roof rack for river excursions.
- Telluride | ZEUS God of The Sky & Thunder: Features mountain-themed graphics, Eibach lift kit, and thunderous BORLA exhaust for adventurous driving. It includes a MOD Storage System for organized gear management.
- Sorento | GAIA Goddess of Earth: With a neutral color scheme and blackout wheels, this model blends into nature. It includes a Yakima awning, outdoor projector screen, and Baja Design lights to enhance camping experiences.
Kia’s Vision for Adventure
“Kia’s rugged and capable utility vehicles have long been known for being versatile, adaptable, and comfortable to suit the needs of a wide range of consumers. We wanted to ‘level up’ the functionality and capability by developing these concepts that take those legendary attributes to the next level,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America. “Our vehicles already help people live their active and adventurous lifestyles, and it was fun to see just how far we could go with these latest concepts. The SEMA Show acts as a blank canvas for creativity and offers a glimpse into what Kia’s automotive future may hold.”
