Kingsburg Truck Center has secured a California state contract to provide Workhorse electric trucks to government agencies. This deal simplifies the purchase process, helps agencies meet environmental rules, and supports cleaner air efforts, especially in the polluted San Joaquin Valley.
Key Highlights
- Contract Award: Kingsburg Truck Center won a contract from the California Department of General Services (DGS).
- Electric Trucks: Supplies Workhorse W4 CC and W56 models.
- Easy Procurement: Offers pre-set pricing and a trusted supplier for state agencies.
- Regulatory Support: Aids compliance with California’s Advanced Clean Fleet rules.
- Cleaner Air: Helps cut emissions in the San Joaquin Valley.

Through this DGS contract, California agencies can now easily buy Workhorse’s fully electric medium-duty trucks. These vehicles are built to lower emissions and align with the state’s green goals. The Workhorse W4 CC, a Class 4 cab chassis, is customizable for various jobs, making it versatile for many industries. The W56, a Class 5/6 step van or stripped chassis, offers a 10,000-pound payload and 210 kWh of battery power, perfect for last-mile delivery and commercial use.
“Being awarded this DGS contract is an important step forward in electrifying California’s fleet operations,” said Wes Lowe, Owner of Kingsburg Truck Center. “We are honored to play a pivotal role in this transition, making zero-emission solutions more accessible to state agencies. We’re located here in the San Joaquin Valley, where air quality has been a challenge for years. Cutting emissions from medium- and heavy-duty trucks is a big deal, and we’re proud to be part of the solution.”
California’s Advanced Clean Fleet rules still require state and local agencies to switch to zero-emission vehicles, even after a federal waiver change in January 2025. This contract provides a clear path to meet those mandates with Workhorse trucks.

The San Joaquin Valley suffers from some of the nation’s worst air quality, with heavy truck traffic adding to smog and particle pollution. Switching to electric trucks can improve air quality and public health in the region.
“The Workhorse W4 CC and W56 provide state agencies with reliable, zero-emission vehicles to meet their operational needs while supporting California’s ambitious clean transportation standards,” said Ryan Gaul, President, Commercial Vehicles at Workhorse. “We’re proud to partner with Kingsburg Truck Center to provide hard-working, reliable vehicles that help improve air quality and drive the transition to electrified fleets.”
With this contract, agencies can confidently buy Workhorse electric trucks, backed by Kingsburg Truck Center’s expertise and support. For more details, visit www.workhorse.com or kingsburgtruckcenter.com and click the Workhorse logo.
