Dutch ultra-rapid EV charge point operator LEAP24 has significantly increased its presence in London by launching four new charging locations in a single week. The new sites in Barking, Chingford, Pinner, and Watford advance the company’s mission to provide accessible and fair clean mobility solutions for both private and commercial electric vehicle drivers. This rapid expansion underscores LEAP24’s commitment to supporting the city’s transition to net-zero transport.

Key Highlights

  • Rapid Rollout: Four new ultra-rapid charging locations were brought online within a seven-day period.
  • Expanded Network: LEAP24 now operates 11 locations inside the M25, making it the sixth-largest ultra-rapid provider in London.
  • Competitive Pricing: The company offers London’s lowest average standard ultra-rapid charging rate at just 69p/kWh.
  • Open Access: Drivers do not need an app or a membership; they can simply pay via contactless card for a seamless experience.

Accelerating Urban Charging

Founded in the Netherlands in 2021, LEAP24 is strategically developing a North-West European network focused on high-traffic cities and transit corridors. The recent London expansion is a key part of this strategy, targeting high-demand areas to accommodate the growing number of EVs. This is particularly crucial for delivery, ride-hailing, and business fleets impacted by clean air initiatives like the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

“We’re not here to take small steps—we take daily leaps toward a future where clean transport is truly accessible to all,” stated Pelle Schlichting, Founder and CEO of LEAP24.

Each new site features multiple 150-300kW charging points and wide, accessible bays. The no-subscription, open-access model simplifies the charging process, removing barriers for all EV drivers.

Overcoming Infrastructure Hurdles

Expanding public charging infrastructure in a dense urban environment like London presents significant challenges, from planning permissions to securing power grid upgrades. Ferry Bosgra, COO at LEAP24, noted that while the process can be complex and slow, the company has developed effective strategies to navigate these obstacles.

“The LEAP24 team is resilient and forward-looking,” said Bosgra. “We’ve learned how to navigate those hurdles and deliver reliable, high-performance sites in record time. That’s what sets us apart.” This efficiency allows the company to meet the city’s urgent demand for reliable EV charging.

A Growing European Footprint

LEAP24’s momentum extends beyond the UK. In the Netherlands, it has already established one of the largest ultra-rapid networks and is the leading electricity supplier to Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs). The company is now actively expanding into Germany, solidifying its position as a key long-term player in the North-West European EV infrastructure market. This international growth is central to its mission of empowering a confident transition to electric transport for individuals and businesses alike. For more information, visit the LEAP24 website.
