Li-Cycle and DTNA collaborate to integrate circular economy practices and recycle lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles.

Li-Cycle Holdings Corp. (“Li-Cycle” or the “Company”), a leader in lithium-ion battery resource recovery, has announced its partnership with Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) to support DTNA’s comprehensive circular economy approach. This collaboration aims to reduce DTNA’s carbon footprint through effective recycling of lithium-ion batteries used in their electric vehicles.

Key Highlights:

  • Partnership Focus: Recycling lithium-ion batteries from DTNA electric vehicles at the end of their lifecycle.
  • Sustainability Strategy: DTNA’s approach includes repairing, remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling battery materials to minimize waste and enhance sustainability.
  • Environmental Impact: Li-Cycle’s advanced recycling technologies facilitate the recovery of critical materials, promoting a domestic closed-loop battery supply chain.

Li-Cycle’s President and CEO, Ajay Kochhar, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “We are proud to partner with companies such as DTNA to support their sustainability and carbon reduction goals. Our environmentally friendly and safe recycling technologies can recover critical materials to help create a domestic closed-loop battery supply chain, giving new life to these battery materials and helping power the world’s transition to clean energy.”
