Loyola Marymount University is scaling its electric vehicle charging infrastructure through an expanded partnership with ChargePoint. The Los Angeles-based university will deploy additional charging stations while upgrading to ChargePoint’s next-generation software platform and adding preventive maintenance services.
Highlights
- LMU upgrading to ChargePoint Platform, a flexible software solution featuring custom reporting and optimized station uptime management
- Safeguard Care service added to provide regular on-site physical inspections of the university’s charging portfolio
- Expansion addresses growing demand from students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors requiring reliable EV charging access
- ChargePoint network now encompasses over 1.3 million public and private charging ports worldwide
Software Platform Enables Data-Driven Operations
The ChargePoint Platform represents the company’s next-generation software architecture. The system provides custom reporting capabilities and streamlined station monitoring while reducing required user inputs.
“As EV utilization increases and transportation rapidly evolves, so does our campus,” said Ian McKeown, Campus Sustainability Officer at Loyola Marymount University. “ChargePoint’s new software platform best enables LMU to serve its growing community of EV drivers, including students, faculty, staff, and more, through efficient monitoring, improved reporting for data-driven business decisions, and greater overall efficiency in maintaining a reliable EV charging network.”
Preventive Maintenance Through Safeguard Care
LMU will implement ChargePoint’s Safeguard Care service, which provides scheduled on-site inspections of charging equipment. The service complements remote monitoring through the ChargePoint Platform by adding physical verification of station operability.
“ChargePoint delivers solutions that scale to meet the needs of any customer,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO at ChargePoint. “Our industry-leading hardware, software, and services seamlessly enable customers like LMU to deliver a world-class charging experience to their community.”
ChargePoint reports having facilitated more than 16 billion electric miles through its global charging network.
