Lucid Group, Inc. announced that the Lucid Air has achieved a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program for 2025. This top rating reflects the model’s strong performance in frontal crash, side crash, and rollover tests across its different versions, including the Air Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, and Sapphire.
The five-star safety rating signifies the vehicle’s effectiveness in protecting occupants during various types of collisions, underscoring Lucid’s commitment to designing safe, advanced electric vehicles. Eric Bach, SVP Product and Chief Engineer at Lucid, emphasized that safety has been a priority for the company since its inception.

NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program is the U.S. government’s primary consumer information initiative for evaluating vehicle safety. It involves rigorous crash testing to assess the vehicle’s ability to protect occupants in different types of accidents, assigning ratings from one to five stars, with five stars being the highest possible score.
Lucid’s engineering approach includes a clean-sheet design to ensure the highest safety standards, utilizing high-strength, lightweight aluminum in the construction of the Air sedan. This design also features an innovative battery pack that enhances the structural strength of the vehicle, contributing to its excellent crash test performance.
