Lyten Expands Battery Operations in Europe

Located in Gdansk, the 270,000-square-foot facility was previously part of Northvolt Systems and began operations in 2023. Lyten intends to rapidly resume operations and fulfill existing customer orders while expanding into new markets. This acquisition complements Lyten’s recent purchase of Northvolt’s lithium-metal cell manufacturing facility in Silicon Valley, significantly scaling its lithium-sulfur battery production.

Lyten’s lithium-sulfur batteries uniquely cater to the BESS market due to their broad operating temperature range, superior safety, high energy density, and lightweight nature. Utilizing abundant, low-cost materials available in both Europe and the United States, these batteries replace traditional minerals like nickel, cobalt, manganese, and graphite.

Dan Cook, Lyten CEO & Co-Founder, stated, “Northvolt’s BESS manufacturing operations are truly world-class and a seamless strategic fit for Lyten. We plan to immediately restart operations in Poland and deliver on existing and new customer orders.”

The Gdansk location strategically positions Lyten to address Europe’s demand for locally manufactured energy storage solutions, a critical requirement highlighted by geopolitical and supply chain concerns.

Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, President of Gdansk, remarked, “The planned investment confirms the growing competitiveness of Poland, particularly Gdansk, on the global economic map.”

This acquisition further solidifies Lyten’s global presence and aligns with its mission of sustainable, innovative battery solutions.
