Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake Opens European Orders

Mercedes-Benz opens European orders for the electric CLA Shooting Brake, offering up to 768 km range, 320 kW charging capability, and 1,290 liters of cargo space across two powertrain variants.

Mercedes-Benz has launched European sales of the all-electric CLA Shooting Brake, expanding its compact electric wagon lineup with two powertrain variants. The vehicle combines the CLA sedan’s electric architecture with increased cargo capacity and versatility for buyers seeking practical electric transportation.

Highlights

  • Two variants available: CLA 250+ (200 kW, rear-wheel drive) starting at €57,096 and CLA 350 4MATIC (260 kW, all-wheel drive) at €61,653 in Germany
  • Up to 768 kilometers WLTP range from the 85 kWh battery pack with 800-volt architecture enabling 315 km of charge in 10 minutes
  • 1,290 liters of cargo space with rear seats folded, plus 101-liter front trunk and 1,800 kg towing capacity
  • New steering wheel design restores physical roller and rocker switches for vehicle controls

Powertrain and Charging Specifications

Both CLA Shooting Brake variants utilize an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery with nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry and 800-volt electrical architecture.

CLA 250+ Shooting Brake

  • Power output: 200 kW peak
  • Torque: 335 Nm
  • Drive configuration: Rear-wheel drive
  • WLTP range: Up to 768 kilometers
  • 0-100 km/h: 6.8 seconds
  • Energy consumption: 14.9-12.7 kWh/100 km

CLA 350 4MATIC Shooting Brake

  • Power output: 260 kW peak
  • Torque: 515 Nm
  • Drive configuration: All-wheel drive
  • WLTP range: Up to 743 kilometers
  • 0-100 km/h: 5.0 seconds
  • Energy consumption: 15.6-13.2 kWh/100 km

Both models reach a top speed of 210 km/h and support DC fast charging at up to 320 kW. The 800-volt architecture enables adding up to 315 kilometers of range in 10 minutes at compatible charging stations.

An optional DC converter allows charging at 400-volt infrastructure. AC charging capacity reaches 22 kW with the optional upgrade.

Cargo and Practicality Features

The Shooting Brake body style prioritizes versatility over the standard CLA sedan. Rear seats feature a 40:20:40 split-folding configuration as standard equipment.

Key cargo specifications include:

  • Trunk volume: 405 liters (VDA measurement)
  • Maximum cargo capacity: 1,290 liters with rear seats folded
  • Front trunk: 101 liters
  • Towing capacity: Up to 1,800 kg braked (4MATIC model)

Standard equipment includes an electric EASY-PACK tailgate and roof rails for external cargo carriers.

Panoramic Roof Technology

The fixed glass roof spans from windshield to rear window and incorporates heat-insulating laminated safety glass with infrared-reflecting and low-emissivity coatings.

The optional SKY CONTROL system enables electrochromic switching between transparent and opaque states across seven independently controlled zones. Optional ambient lighting integrates 158 illuminated points within the glass surface.

Revised Steering Wheel Controls

Mercedes-Benz has reintroduced physical roller and rocker switches to the multifunction steering wheel. The rocker switch controls the speed limiter and DISTRONIC adaptive cruise functions, while a roller manages volume adjustment.

The redesign includes enlarged finger navigation pads for the driver display and reduced button count for improved usability.

MB.OS Software Platform

The CLA Shooting Brake operates on Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system, enabling over-the-air updates for vehicle software including driver assistance systems.

The MBUX interface incorporates AI capabilities from Microsoft and Google partnerships. The MBUX Virtual Assistant uses a multi-agent approach to select appropriate AI tools for different queries.

Navigation integrates Google Maps with Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence, which calculates routes including charging stops and automatically preconditions the battery for optimal DC charging performance.

Driver Assistance Systems

Standard safety equipment includes Distance Assist DISTRONIC across all European variants. The optional MB.DRIVE ASSIST package adds steering assistance for SAE Level 2 functionality.

New to the CLA Shooting Brake is Lane Change Assist, which initiates lane changes through indicator stalk activation.

Entertainment and Connectivity

An optional 14-inch front passenger display supports video streaming, cloud gaming, audio services, and productivity applications including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex integration.

Available streaming and entertainment services include Disney+, Boosteroid cloud gaming, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Audible.

Equipment Packages

Mercedes-Benz offers three tiered equipment packages building upon Progressive Line standard equipment:

Standard Progressive Line features:

  • Panoramic roof
  • LED High Performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist
  • 10.3-inch driver display and 14.0-inch central display
  • THERMATIC climate control
  • Heated front seats

Advanced Plus Package adds:
