Hyundai Mobis has unveiled MOBION, an electric vehicle showcasing groundbreaking technologies that redefine vehicle movement and communication.
MOBION takes center stage at CES 2024, captivating audiences with its e-Corner System, enabling sideways driving, diagonal maneuvers, and even 360-degree pivot turns. This revolutionary system employs four individually controlled wheels powered by In-Wheel technology, featuring four compact motors within each wheel, ditching the traditional single large motor.

Enhanced Safety and Communication Through Light:
MOBION goes beyond mobility, prioritizing safety and driver awareness through innovative exterior lighting and display functions.
- Pedestrian-Aware LEDs: An LED on the front bumper, assisted by short-range lidar, displays pedestrian crossing directions at intersections. The rear bumper does the same, alerting drivers to pedestrians crossing on either side.
- Ground Projection: This feature complements e-Corner System movements by illuminating the vehicle’s path on the ground using 360-degree lights. It can even project crosswalk stripes for detected pedestrians.
Sensor Fusion for Autonomous Driving:
MOBION embraces the future of autonomous driving with three strategically placed lidar sensors:
- Two short-range lidars near the headlamps for precise obstacle detection during lateral movements.
- One long-range lidar at the front center for enhanced awareness in wider environments.
MOBION: A Tangible Vision for the Future of EVs:
Hyundai Mobis isn’t just presenting a concept; MOBION is a fully functional demonstration car, showcasing their commitment to bringing these advanced technologies to the roads. This approach underscores their confidence and makes these innovations easily digestible and applicable.
