Nikola Corporation further solidifies its leadership in zero-emission transportation with the inauguration of its new HYLA hydrogen refueling station in Southern California. The station, located near the busy Port of Long Beach at 2267 W. Gaylord St., began its operations on May 4, 2024. This addition marks a significant step in Nikola’s expansion of its hydrogen refueling infrastructure under the HYLA brand.
Key Highlights:
- New HYLA Station Operational: The Long Beach station commenced operations, enhancing the local hydrogen refueling capacity.
- Strategic Expansion Plan: Nikola plans to have up to nine refueling solutions operational by mid-2024 and aims for a total of 14 sites by the end of the year.
- Commitment to Customer Experience: Round-the-clock assistance is provided by dedicated HYLA Ambassadors and Operation Technicians.
- Partnership and Supply Chain Development: Nikola continues to strengthen its partnerships and secure its hydrogen supply chain, including a 10-year agreement with FirstElement Fuel.

The expansion strategy includes both modular and permanent HYLA stations as well as partnerships with public truck stops, creating a comprehensive network that supports Nikola’s fleet of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles and other Class 8 customers. This robust development not only demonstrates Nikola’s commitment to decarbonizing transportation but also accelerates the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology across the industry.
