Nikola Corporation, a leader in zero-emissions transportation and energy solutions, has announced a significant milestone with the establishment of a new HYLA hydrogen refueling station in West Sacramento, California. The facility, located at 917 Stillwater Rd, features an advanced modular fueler and will be operational by January 2025. This marks the first modular HYLA station in Northern California, strengthening Nikola’s hydrogen refueling infrastructure and expanding its reach for Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks.
Key Highlights
- Strategic Location: The station in West Sacramento enhances access to hydrogen refueling for fleet customers and strengthens the north-south I-5 freight corridor.
- Phase One Capabilities: Can fuel up to 20 Nikola Class 8 hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks daily, ensuring continuous support and seamless operations.
- Hydrogen Infrastructure Growth: Accelerates adoption of zero-emission trucks in California while expanding HYLA’s robust network.
- State and Local Support: Developed in collaboration with California authorities to ensure a sustainable hydrogen supply chain.
Advancing Zero-Emission Transportation
According to Ole Hoefelmann, Nikola’s President of Energy, the West Sacramento station represents a pivotal step toward zero-emission transportation. “Reaching a zero-emission future just became one step closer as we continue our planned rollout to strengthen the north-south I-5 freight corridor and expand coverage areas from the Port of Oakland,” he stated.
California State Senator Christopher Cabaldon echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the station’s potential to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission trucking in California. “This new hydrogen fueling station will help accelerate adoption of zero-emission trucks in California, right here in the state capital region,” he noted.
Comprehensive Refueling Solutions
The HYLA network offers flexible options to meet the needs of Class 8 truck customers, including modular and permanent stations, customer-owned facilities, and partnerships with public truck stops. This diverse approach ensures efficient and scalable solutions for hydrogen refueling across the region.
