Nissan has announced a 2026 model year update to the Ariya electric crossover, adding bi-directional Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging, the latest NissanConnect with Google built-in infotainment, and revised front-end styling. UK pricing starts at £37,000 (approximately $50,387) for the Engage+ trim, with sales opening in June and first deliveries expected in September. Full specifications and timing were confirmed by Nissan UK on May 6.
Highlights
- Two trims, two batteries: Engage+ with a 63 kWh pack at £37,000 (~$50,387); Advance with an 87 kWh pack at £43,425 (~$59,135), both excluding the UK Electric Car Grant
- 11 kW bi-directional on-board charger enables V2L output of up to 3 kW for external devices when stationary
- DC fast charging up to 130 kW is retained; on-sale date is June 2026, with first deliveries in September
- NissanConnect with Google built-in brings native Google Maps routing with automatic charging-stop integration and battery pre-conditioning

Design and Interior Updates
The 2026 Ariya refines Nissan’s “Timeless Japanese Futurism” design language with a redesigned front end. A body-color front panel replaces the previous black surround, and the V-Motion signature has been reworked for a cleaner appearance. New 19-inch wheels combine aluminum and resin elements, and the exterior palette adds a Plasma Green color alongside existing monotone and two-tone options.
Inside, the central console has been redesigned to expand storage capacity to 3.2 liters and incorporates a 15W wireless charger.

Connected Powertrain and Charging
The headline technical change is the addition of an 11 kW bi-directional on-board charger supporting Vehicle-to-Load. With the vehicle stationary, owners can draw up to 3 kW through a dedicated connector to power external devices such as electric cooking equipment or to charge a laptop. DC rapid charging support remains at up to 130 kW.
Connectivity is handled by the latest NissanConnect with Google built-in. The In-Car Route Planner integrates Google Maps routing with the navigation system, automatically inserting charging stops based on real-time battery state and pre-conditioning the battery as the vehicle approaches a charger. The companion NissanConnect Services app manages charging sessions, climate settings, and tire-pressure monitoring from a smartphone.
The V2L addition aligns Ariya with a broader 2026 push by European-market EV manufacturers to add bi-directional functionality. Volkswagen introduced V2L on the ID.4 and ID.5 earlier this year as part of a similar model-year refresh, signaling that the feature is migrating from a premium differentiator into baseline electric crossover specification.

Suspension, ADAS, and Pricing
Updated suspension tuning is intended to improve stability and reduce vibration over long distances, addressing a frequent criticism of the outgoing model’s ride quality in UK press reviews. ProPILOT advanced driver assistance returns with adaptive distance control and stop-and-go support; Nissan said response times and adjustment smoothness have been improved, though the company did not provide independent benchmark data to substantiate the claim.
Pricing positions the MY26 Ariya above the post-grant £33,500 entry price Nissan introduced for the outgoing range in August 2025 with the Shiro variant. Nissan said the Engage+ is expected to qualify for the UK Electric Car Grant pending confirmation from the Office of Zero Emission Vehicles, which would lower the on-the-road price by £1,500 (approximately $2,043). Range figures for the MY26 specification have not yet been published.
