This partnership aims to meet the growing demand for EV infrastructure and supports the city’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. By leveraging HVPT’s vast parking network, the collaboration will help accelerate EV adoption and provide convenient access to charging stations throughout Manhattan.
Key Highlights:
- Partnership between IUC and HVPT will deploy over 5,000 EV chargers in New York City.
- HVPT recently acquired ICON Parking, Manhattan’s largest parking operator, offering extensive charging locations.
- New York City aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2030 with a target of converting 400,000 traditional vehicles to EVs.
- 660% increase in EV ownership in New York State over the past five years shows a significant shift toward electric mobility.
- IUC’s charging-as-a-service model simplifies deploying high volumes of EV chargers.
- IUC’s collaboration with real estate leaders JLL and CBRE boosts their nationwide expansion efforts.
HVPT’s acquisition of ICON Parking gives the partnership access to a robust parking infrastructure, which will be vital in building out the charging network. Nigel Broomhall, CEO of IUC, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in meeting New York City’s growing EV demand. Jerry Skillett, Chairman and CEO of HVPT, expressed that this deployment will not only cater to New Yorkers’ needs but also solidify ICON Parking’s leadership in the parking industry.
With this large-scale deployment, New York City’s EV infrastructure will be well-positioned to support the city’s sustainability goals. The collaboration between IUC and global real estate giants such as JLL and CBRE further strengthens their presence and positions IUC as a key player in the EV market.
