UK-based EV charging provider Ohme has introduced Park & Charge, a shared parking charging function for its new ePod S charger. The product targets property developers, offices, and landlords who need communal EV charging infrastructure with integrated payment and management tools.
Highlights
- Ohme’s ePod S charger with Park & Charge serves shared residential and business parking environments with built-in payment processing and user management.
- The launch coincides with the UK government’s increase of the OZEV grant to £500, effective April 1, covering rented properties, landlords, and workplace parking.
- A Building Management Platform gives facility managers control over user access, pricing, and charging activity monitoring.
- Ohme’s dynamic charging software connects to the national grid in real time, automatically shifting sessions to lower-cost periods.
Product Overview
The ePod S is designed as a unified charging solution for communal parking settings. It allows developers to deploy consistent infrastructure across both shared and sole-use residential sites. Ohme provides the hardware, software, and payment processing as a single scalable package.
“The Park & Charge function with the new ePod S is a valuable addition to the Ohme range for those after a shared parking solution,” said David Watson, Ohme CEO. He added that the product will simplify decision-making for property developers selecting a residential charging partner, as well as for businesses and landlords with shared parking arrangements.
Management and Driver Experience
The Park & Charge function operates through two interfaces. The Building Management Platform lets facility managers monitor charging behavior across a location, control user access, adjust pricing, and track activity.
Drivers use the Ohme app to start and stop sessions, pay directly through the platform, and review charge history. According to the company, Park & Charge could offer drivers lower charging prices compared to standard public networks.
Dynamic Charging Technology
Ohme’s software connects to the national grid in real time. It automatically adjusts charging schedules to take advantage of off-peak pricing windows. This approach aims to reduce costs for both building operators and EV drivers.
OEM Partnerships
Ohme serves as the official charger provider for Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Cars, and the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Ireland. The company also partners with Genesis, Hyundai, Smart, Suzuki, and XPeng in the UK. Additionally, Ohme is the exclusive charger provider for customers on the Motability scheme, the UK’s largest fleet operator.
