The Polestar 4 has earned a prestigious 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, solidifying its position as a leader in electric vehicle safety. This achievement marks the third model in Polestar’s lineup to receive the highest accolade from the independent European New Car Assessment Program, highlighting the brand’s dedication to advanced crash protection and avoidance technologies.
Key Highlights
- Adult Occupant Protection: Scored an impressive 92%, topping the charts in recent testing protocols with maximum points in side barrier and pole impact tests.
- Child Occupant Protection: Achieved 85%, praised for excellent performance in frontal offset and side barrier assessments.
- Vulnerable Road Users: Rated at 81%, demonstrating strong safeguards for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Safety Assist Systems: Earned 79%, supported by cutting-edge driver assistance features.
- Overall Score: A comprehensive 86%, completing Polestar’s full lineup of 5-star rated electric vehicles.

Polestar’s commitment to safety is evident in the Polestar 4’s design. The vehicle features seven airbags, including innovative inner side airbags that minimize injuries between occupants during collisions. An advanced E-call system automatically alerts emergency services in severe accidents, enhancing response times and potentially saving lives.
To prevent incidents, the Polestar 4 incorporates a robust Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This includes 11 exterior cameras, a Driver Monitoring System camera, mid-range radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. These components continuously scan the surroundings, providing warnings or intervening when necessary. Additionally, a roof-mounted rear-view camera replaces the traditional rear window, offering a wider field of view, better low-light visibility, and unobstructed sightlines even when the car is loaded.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO, emphasized the brand’s focus on safety: “The Polestar 4 continues to demonstrate our commitment to make amongst the safest performance cars you can buy.” This rating builds on the successes of previous models. The Polestar 2 received its 5-star rating in 2021, while the Polestar 3 set new benchmarks earlier this year with a 93% child safety score.

Euro NCAP, established in 1997, rigorously evaluates vehicles across categories like adult and child occupant protection, vulnerable road users, and safety assist technologies. Only vehicles excelling in crash protection and equipped with state-of-the-art avoidance systems earn the coveted 5-star rating. Polestar 4’s performance across all areas underscores its engineering excellence.
For consumers seeking premium electric vehicles, Polestar offers a complete range of top-rated options. The brand’s unwavering emphasis on safety provides peace of mind, ensuring that every model—not just electric vehicles—ranks among the safest on the market.
Advanced Safety Innovations
The Polestar 4’s safety suite goes beyond basics. Its sensor array and camera systems enable proactive interventions, such as automatic braking or lane-keeping assistance, reducing accident risks in diverse driving conditions. This integration of technology aligns with Polestar’s broader mission to innovate in the electric vehicle space.
