DENZA Reveals Z Electric Supercar, Confirms UK Pricing

DENZA has revealed the Z electric supercar at Goodwood, confirming UK pricing from £142,900 to £172,900 alongside a 1,604PS triple-motor powertrain and FLASH Charging capability.

DENZA unveiled its all-electric Z supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, confirming UK pricing from £142,900 ($191,200) for the entry Coupe to £172,900 ($231,300) for the range-topping Racing. The reveal completes the Z line-up for DENZA, joining the Spider that debuted at Auto China 2026 in Beijing earlier this year. Built on the brand’s dedicated e³ Sports Car Platform, the triple-motor Z produces a combined 1,604PS (1,180kW) and 1,240Nm (915 lb-ft) of torque, and the company reports the Racing variant reaches 62mph in as little as 1.96 seconds when fitted with the optional semi-slick tyre package. DENZA, BYD Group’s premium technology-led brand, is using the flagship model to showcase engineering it says will filter down to future European models.

Highlights

  • Combined triple-motor output of 1,604PS (1,180kW) and 1,240Nm (915 lb-ft) enables a 1.96-second 0-62mph time and 217mph top speed in Racing trim with the optional semi-slick tyres, the company reports
  • FLASH Charging takes the 76kWh second-generation Blade Battery from 10%-70% in five minutes and 10%-97% in nine minutes
  • UK pricing set at £142,900 ($191,200) for the Coupe, £159,900 ($213,950) for the Spider and £172,900 ($231,300) for the Racing, with orders opening this summer and handovers due before year-end
  • Offered in Coupe, Spider and Racing forms, plus a Special Edition targeting Nürburgring Nordschleife lap records this autumn

e³ Sports Car Platform Drives Triple-Motor Performance

The Z rides on DENZA’s e³ Sports Car Platform (“e-cube”), developed exclusively for the brand around four core technologies: a triple-motor torque-control system the company describes as the world’s first built specifically for the track, Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery integration, DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension, and FLASH Charging paired with the second-generation Blade Battery. The Z’s Coupe and Racing variants were previously previewed as part of an eight-model showcase DENZA and sibling brands YANGWANG and BYD staged at Goodwood.

All three versions share a single front motor and twin independently controlled rear motors for a combined maximum output of 1,604PS (1,180kW) and 1,240Nm (915 lb-ft) of torque, according to DENZA. That’s enough for a 2.25-second 0-62mph time and 186mph top speed in the Coupe; the Spider is marginally slower at 2.3 seconds, while the Racing — on its optional semi-slick tyre package — cuts the sprint to 1.96 seconds and raises top speed to 217mph.

The twin rear motors form part of what DENZA calls the world’s first 15-in-1 fully integrated electric-drive unit, bundling the motors, reduction gears, motor control units, onboard charger, DC-DC converter and several other systems into a single package spinning at up to 30,000rpm. A Vehicle Motion Control (VMC) hub governs the car’s braking, suspension and steering actuators with what the company says is a signal-transmission time as low as 10 milliseconds — fast enough to run a Tyre Burst Control System that redistributes torque within milliseconds of a blowout, and a “compass turn” function that pivots the car around its front wheels.

FLASH Charging Targets Combustion-Rivaling Refuel Times

DENZA says FLASH Charging delivers up to 1,500kW through a single connector, taking the Z’s 76kWh Blade Battery from 10%-70% in five minutes and 10%-97% in nine minutes — even at -30°C, the company reports a 20%-97% charge in 12 minutes, under the brand’s “Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3” positioning. The system made its UK debut in June on a DENZA Z9 GT.

The underlying battery chemistry uses what DENZA calls a “FlashPass” Ion Transport System, engineered to push lithium iron phosphate cells toward faster ion mobility without compromising safety. The company reports the second-generation Blade Battery has passed a simultaneous FLASH Charging and nail-penetration test with no thermal runaway after 500 charging cycles, and that overall capacity degradation is 2.5% lower than the original Blade Battery.

Chassis, Suspension and Braking

DiSus-M magnetorheological dampers — new to the e³ platform — adjust rebound and compression in milliseconds using a fluid that changes viscosity under a magnetic field. Coupe and Spider run air suspension; the Racing swaps in coil springs for a more track-focused setup, atop double-wishbone front and multi-link rear geometry in all three. All versions get carbon-ceramic drilled discs — six-piston front, four-piston rear — which DENZA says saves roughly 66 lbs (30kg) of unsprung mass, improves cooling, and is rated for up to 186,000 miles of service life. Calipers can be ordered in orange, yellow, red or blue.

Design and Cabin

Styled by BYD Global Design Director Wolfgang Egger under the “Pure Emotion” design language, the Coupe and Spider measure 188.2 in (4,780mm) — DENZA’s most compact model in Europe — while the aero-focused Racing stretches to 191.7 in (4,870mm). Egger described the shape as “a living sculpture of speed.” A four-seat cabin mixes carbon fiber, suede-effect fabric and metal trim around a driver-focused layout, with an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a Devialet audio system (12 speakers in Coupe and Racing, 10 in Spider) including headrest speakers. Boost mode adds 30% throttle torque for 20 seconds; Track mode opens a data-logging and drift-configuration suite with three storable driver profiles. Buyers can choose from 10 exterior colors, 10 interior colors and four brake-caliper finishes, with the Spider’s roof also available in color options.

Racing Aero and the Nürburgring-Bound Special Edition

The Racing adds a carbon-fiber front splitter, underfloor vortex generators and an optional three-position adjustable rear wing, which DENZA says generates up to 2,337 lbs (1,060kg) of downforce at 217mph; buyers can also delete the rear seats for a roll cage and carbon-fiber trim. A track-only Special Edition, still under development, is targeted at Nürburgring Nordschleife lap records this autumn; DENZA reports total system power above 2,000PS and a sub-1.7-second 0-62mph time, with a drag-reduction system combining an active front diffuser and rear wing flap for up to 40% less drag and more than 4,409 lbs (2,000kg) of downforce at 186mph. Further specifications are pending.
