International Charge Point Operator (CPO) PowerGo has significantly expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Denmark, bringing over 300 new charging points online in the Jutland region. This development enhances the public charging infrastructure across four municipalities, making EV ownership more convenient for local residents and visitors just ahead of the summer travel season. The new installations are part of the company’s commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable transportation.

Key Highlights

  • Major Expansion: Over 300 new public EV charging points have been installed and are now operational in Denmark’s Jutland region.
  • Four Municipalities Served: The new chargers are located in Ikast-Brande, Haderslev, Varde, and Vejen.
  • Convenient Locations: Charging points are situated at everyday locations, including schools, daycare centers, and sports facilities.
  • Dynamic and Fair Pricing: PowerGo utilizes a dynamic pricing model based on real-time electricity costs, offering lower prices when renewable energy is abundant.
  • Sustainable Energy: All charging stations are powered by solar energy generated by PowerGo’s parent company, PowerField.

Strategic Placement for Everyday Use

The expansion focuses on integrating EV charging into the daily lives of drivers. The new stations are strategically placed at accessible public locations such as schools, town halls, and recreational facilities. The largest rollout occurred in Ikast-Brande, which received 152 charging points at 46 different sites. The other municipalities benefiting from the expansion include:

  • Vejen: 80 charging points
  • Varde: 46 charging points
  • Haderslev: 22 charging points

These locations provide a range of charging speeds, from 22 to 300 kilowatts (kW), catering to various vehicle needs and driver schedules, whether they need a quick top-up or an overnight charge.

Innovative Pricing and Sustainable Power

PowerGo employs a dynamic pricing system to ensure fair and transparent costs for consumers. Prices are tied to the real-time cost of electricity, which encourages charging during off-peak hours when more renewable energy is available on the grid. This not only results in lower costs for the EV driver but also helps balance the electrical grid. Customers can view current rates at any time using the free PowerGo Charge app.

This commitment to sustainability is central to PowerGo’s mission. The company ensures that the energy used at its charging stations is generated from solar parks operated by its parent company, PowerField. This creates a complete green energy solution, from production and storage to final use in electric vehicles.

Future Growth in Denmark and Europe

This latest installation is a significant step in PowerGo’s broader strategy for Denmark. The company has successfully won 19 tenders to install more than 1,600 public charging points across 16 municipalities and at various highway locations for the Danish Road Directorate.

PowerGo’s growth extends beyond Denmark, with active operations in seven European countries and a network of over 1,700 charging points. The CPO continues to develop charging solutions for major partners like Radisson Hotel Group and HelloFresh, solidifying its role as a key player in Europe’s transition to electric mobility.
