The initiative underscores Schaeffler’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint. Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler AG, emphasized, “Schaeffler stands for sustainability and is committed to e-mobility. We are pursuing the higher-level objective of reducing our CO2 emissions on a continuous basis. This includes the carbon footprint for individual mobility. Through this project, we will increase Schaeffler’s attractiveness as a sustainable employer and further motivate our workforce to act in an environmentally conscious manner.”

Pilot Projects in Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt

The project kicked off with pilot installations in Herzogenaurach, where 40 charging points have been installed at a redeveloped parking lot. These stations, offering up to 22 kilowatts of charging capacity per station, are initially available to employees at no cost. An additional 245 charging points are planned for Herzogenaurach by 2025, catering to employees, company cars, and visitors.

In Schweinfurt, the infrastructure is being enhanced to support 122 new charging points, with initial operations expected to begin in 2025. These pilots serve as the blueprint for future expansions across all Schaeffler locations globally, solidifying the company’s role as a leader in sustainable mobility.
