Simon Loos Orders 75 More eActros 600 Trucks

Simon Loos expands its electric fleet to 210 trucks with a second 75-unit order of Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 vehicles for food and beverage logistics.

Dutch logistics provider Simon Loos has ordered 75 additional Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks, bringing its total electric fleet to 210 vehicles. The purchase makes Simon Loos the operator of the largest electric truck fleet in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe.

Highlights

  • Simon Loos ordered 75 eActros 600 units, its second major order following an initial 75-unit purchase in autumn 2024.
  • The company’s electric fleet now totals 210 trucks, the largest in the Netherlands.
  • New vehicles will serve food distribution, including three-axle units for network transport and beverage logistics.
  • By year-end, 150 eActros 600 trucks are expected to be operational in the Simon Loos fleet.

Second Order Follows Strong Operational Results

The follow-up order comes after Simon Loos reported strong real-world performance from its first batch of eActros 600 trucks. Wim Roks, Fleet Manager at Simon Loos, said the initial vehicles exceeded expectations. “Even while the first vehicles were being delivered, we began evaluating them in real-world operations,” Roks said.

Around two-thirds of the first 75-unit order have already been delivered. Delivery of the second tranche will begin as soon as the remaining first-order vehicles enter service. “We want to keep moving forward – not stand still,” Roks added.

Early Adopter Track Record

Simon Loos has a history of early adoption in electric commercial transport. In 2021, it became the first company in Europe to deploy the first-generation eActros 300. Eric Brok, CEO of Daimler Truck Nederland B.V., noted that by year-end, 150 eActros 600 trucks will be operating in the Simon Loos fleet.

Brok credited the partnership between Simon Loos, its contractual partner GomesTrucks, and Daimler Truck as a key factor in the rapid scale-up.

Fleet and Company Profile

Simon Loos operates more than 1,200 trucks across over 60 locations in the Netherlands. The company employs more than 3,000 people. The eActros 600 deployment is concentrated in food distribution and beverage logistics, with several three-axle configurations intended for heavier network transport duties.
