The new site, located near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Inglewood, offers 29 DC Fast Chargers and advanced features for optimized fleet management. This launch underscores Terawatt’s commitment to supporting the transition to electrification, ensuring the necessary infrastructure is in place for growing fleet demands.
Key Highlights:
- Located three miles from LAX, offering easy access for light-duty fleet operators.
- Equipped with 29 DC Fast Chargers and advanced automated site management features.
- Site provides real-time data insights, energy usage monitoring, and proactive maintenance for high charging reliability.
- Follows Terawatt’s coalition announcement to pilot long-haul heavy-duty EV operations along the I-10 corridor.
The new charging site offers real-time data insights, energy usage tracking, scheduling, and remote monitoring to streamline EV fleet management. It includes robust data infrastructure for proactive and preventive maintenance, ensuring high charging reliability for fleet operators. This marks a significant step in the EV infrastructure landscape as Terawatt aims to meet the increasing demand for reliable charging solutions.
Neha Palmer, CEO of Terawatt, noted, “The opening of our first full-build EV fleet charging site marks a significant milestone as the industry navigates the transition to electrification. This site opening signals to the industry that the infrastructure and technology essential to accelerating this transition are here today. We are fully committed to providing customizable solutions that meet fleets where they are, so they can begin testing and fine-tuning EV fleet operations based on real-world charging experiences.”
California is a key market for electrification, with light-duty vehicles contributing to 70% of the transportation sector’s direct emissions according to CARB. Globally, EV sales are expected to grow by 20% in 2024, highlighting the urgency for charging infrastructure to meet increasing demand.
This site launch also aligns with Terawatt’s recent initiatives, including the pilot of long-haul heavy-duty battery-electric vehicle operations at six charging hubs along the I-10 corridor, and further expansion across multiple states. The company is currently developing 15 additional charging sites, including major routes from the Port of Long Beach to El Paso, Texas, further bolstering the infrastructure needed for fleet electrification.
