THK Unveils LSR-05 Prototype in Paris

THK, the Japanese technology company, debuted its LSR-05 prototype electric vehicle at the Paris Auto Salon, marking its first international auto show reveal. Developed in partnership with SN DESIGN PLATFORM, the LSR-05 features THK’s latest technological innovations, including in-wheel motors, four-wheel steering, active suspension, and a contactless charging system. First showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, the LSR-05 is designed to represent Luxury, Sportiness, and Revolution in a four-seater crossover coupe format.

THK, established in 1971 in Tokyo, is renowned for its linear motion technology and has expanded its expertise into the automotive sector, with a substantial presence in Europe. The LSR-05 highlights THK’s vision for advanced electric vehicle technology and future mobility, showcasing innovations such as a Stealth Seat-slide system, MR fluid active dampers, and electric brakes.

At the Paris Auto Salon, Takashi Teramachi, Chief Operating Officer of THK, presented the LSR-05’s platform, which integrates two 93 kW (800 V) in-wheel electric motors in the rear, paired with a 220 kW (800 V) motor in the front, forming part of a four-wheel steering system. The advanced active suspension system with MR fluid active dampers and electric brakes ensures enhanced comfort and handling.

The cabin of the LSR-05 features THK’s Stealth Seat-slide system, providing a luxurious, spacious interior with a flat floor. Additionally, the vehicle’s contactless power supply utilizes dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) to improve charging efficiency.

According to Takashi Teramachi, THK is already working on the LSR-07 as the next-generation prototype, which will be showcased at the next Japan Mobility Show.
