Toyota’s Princeton, Indiana, manufacturing plant has officially produced its one-millionth hybrid vehicle, a significant achievement in the company’s ongoing commitment to electrification. The milestone vehicle, a 2025 Toyota Sienna Platinum in Wind Chill Pearl, rolled off the assembly line, marked by a flash of its lights and the sound of its horn. This accomplishment highlights the plant’s dedication to producing sustainable and popular vehicles for the North American market.

Key Highlights

  • Toyota Indiana celebrated the production of its 1-millionth hybrid vehicle, a 2025 Toyota Sienna.
  • The all-hybrid Sienna, known for its efficiency and dependability, is a top-selling vehicle in Toyota’s lineup.
  • In May, Sienna sales saw a more than 95 percent increase year-over-year, as electrified vehicle sales accounted for nearly half of Toyota’s total volume.
  • This milestone aligns with Toyota’s broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

A Legacy of Production

The Toyota Sienna has been a staple of the Indiana plant’s production since 2003. Now offered exclusively as a hybrid, the minivan is a testament to Toyota’s focus on next-generation mobility. The vehicle delivers an EPA-estimated 36 combined MPG, providing families with an efficient and reliable option for daily commutes and long-distance travel.

The Sienna’s quality was recently recognized in the 2025 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, where it earned the top spot in the minivan segment. “It’s a significant achievement to reach this milestone and something our team members should be proud of,” said Jason Puckett, president of Toyota Indiana. “The all-hybrid Sienna demonstrates our commitment to electrification and remains a top-selling vehicle in Toyota’s lineup.”

Driving Toward a Greener Future

The production of one million hybrids at a single plant is a core component of Toyota’s larger electrification strategy. With electrified vehicles making up a substantial portion of sales, the company is making significant strides toward its environmental goals. Toyota’s portfolio currently features 32 electrified options, the most of any automaker.

To support this growth, Toyota is expanding its manufacturing footprint. In the spring of 2025, the company’s new plant in North Carolina will begin manufacturing automotive batteries for electrified vehicles, further solidifying its commitment to a sustainable future.

Investment in Community and Manufacturing

Since breaking ground in 1996, Toyota Indiana has become a cornerstone of the local economy, representing a total investment of $8 billion. The plant employs 7,650 team members and has contributed more than $54 million to local organizations.

Toyota continues to be a major force in the U.S. automotive industry, directly employing nearly 48,000 people across 11 manufacturing plants.
