Toyota debuts its first all-electric performance concept at the 2025 SEMA Show—the bZ Time Attack Concept, a purpose-built, all-wheel-drive EV engineered for time attack circuits and hill climbs.
Highlights
- First-ever Toyota BEV SEMA build, based on the upcoming 2026 bZ AWD platform.
- Over 400 horsepower from R&D-tuned dual electric motors and bespoke ECU calibration.
- Features motorsports-grade aerodynamics, a six-inch lower ride height, and a widened track.
- 3D-printed bodywork developed through Toyota’s Add Lab and advanced R&D collaboration.

Exploring the Limits of BEV Performance
Toyota’s Motorsports Technical Center developed the bZ Time Attack to explore how battery-electric platforms perform under motorsport conditions. The concept builds upon the 2026 bZ AWD, which in production trim already delivers 338 hp and 0–60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
“This year at SEMA, we wanted to push ourselves into unexplored territory,” said Marty Schwerter, Director of Operations at Toyota’s Motorsports Technical Center. “It’s a chance to explore, learn, and create something that shows just how much potential exists within Toyota’s BEV platforms.”
Advanced Fabrication and Aerodynamics
Creating a full aero package for an EV required Toyota to rethink cooling, airflow, and weight distribution. Using a hybridized fabrication process, Toyota R&D, TRD, and partners combined laser scanning, CAD development, and large-scale 3D printing. The approach allowed for rapid prototyping and structural precision through Toyota’s Add Lab in Georgetown, Kentucky.
The result is a widebody EV lowered by six inches, with a six-inch track increase and full aerodynamic package—front splitter, side skirts, diffuser, and rear wing—finished in a custom pearl white, black, and red tri-color scheme.

Track-Ready Engineering
Underneath, the concept employs TEIN coilovers, Alcon brakes with Hawk pads, and a full FIA-spec 4130 chromoly roll cage. It rides on 19×11-inch BBS Unlimited wheels wrapped in 305/30ZR19 Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires, delivering both grip and aesthetic aggression. Inside, OMP racing seats and harnesses complete the motorsport setup.
“The goal wasn’t to simply create a showpiece,” Schwerter added. “It was to see how far the new bZ platform could be pushed in a motorsport setting.”
Toyota’s Electrified Future
The bZ Time Attack Concept underscores Toyota’s broader electrification strategy, including new BEVs—the bZ Woodland and C-HR—set for 2026, all part of the company’s “Powered by Possibility” theme at SEMA 2025.
Visitors can see the bZ Time Attack Concept in person at the Toyota booth (Central Hall, Booth 22200) during the 2025 SEMA Show, November 4–7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
