Unico, a pioneer in EV test solutions, has successfully completed the acquisition of Present Power Systems (PPS), a leader in the development of ultra-compact power electronics. This acquisition marks a significant step in Unico’s strategy to enhance its market presence by diversifying its product range in the electric vehicle (EV) testing domain, including battery testing and EV charging solutions.

By integrating PPS’s advanced portfolio, Unico is set to offer a comprehensive suite of technologies for battery cell, module, and pack testing, alongside innovative EV charging solutions such as home chargers, DC fast charging stations, On-Board Chargers (OBC), DC-to-DC converters, and inductive wireless charging technologies.

Steve Bright, CEO of Unico, emphasized the acquisition’s role in strengthening the company’s commitment to transforming the battery test and EV charging sectors. “The acquisition of Present Power Systems fortifies Unico’s commitment to revolutionize the battery test and EV charging landscape,” Bright stated, highlighting the anticipated benefits of incorporating PPS’s leading-edge technologies into Unico’s offerings.

Key highlights of the acquisition include the seamless integration of all PPS employees into Unico, with Jason Katcha, the CEO of PPS, joining the team. PPS’s Milwaukee headquarters will continue to operate as a key hub for Unico’s R&D initiatives, further enriching Unico’s technological capabilities and innovation potential.

This strategic move not only expands Unico’s technological footprint but also ensures the continuity of cutting-edge research and development in battery testing and EV charging solutions. With the acquisition, Unico aims to industrialize and scale PPS’s technologies, facilitating broader market adoption and enhancing the customer experience through a more diversified and comprehensive product lineup.
