Las Vegas – Applus+ IDIADA, one of the leading companies providing design, testing, and engineering services to the automotive industry officially announced that it has been chosen by VinFast – Vietnam’s very first EV maker – as a partner in EV safety testing.
VinFast – a member of Vingroup – is an automotive manufacturer headquartered in Vietnam and the first Vietnamese car brand to expand into global markets. VinFast is also the first Vietnamese carmaker to expand into producing EVs including electric cars, electric buses, and electric scooters.
Having safety performance in mind, VinFast has collaborated with Applus+ IDIADA, a leading global company with complete vehicle testing and engineering capabilities in the US, Europe, and Asia. Applus+ IDIADA will perform safety tests to assess the safety performance of VinFast EVs according to legal and consumer requirements in VinFast’s global markets.

According to Vingroup Vice-Chair and VinFast Global CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy, “The US is among the most important markets for VinFast and we want to provide the highest level of safety to the customers. The demand for EVs in the coming up years is huge; we don’t come to the US and other markets to compete with other OEMs. We aim to provide a high-quality EV, a unique customer experience at a reasonable price. We believe that we’ll find a place in the global EV market.”
VinFast’s plant in the US is expected to produce its first EVs in late 2024. Meanwhile, VinFast’s manufacturing complex in Vietnam has already delivered the first EVs of VF e34 model on December 25, 2021, marking the beginning of the EV era in Vietnam.
Apart from VF e34, VinFast first introduced its two other EV models VF 8 and VF 9 (previously VF e35 and VF e36) at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show last November. At CES 2022 in Las Vegas, VinFast even presented all its full EV lineup encompassing VF 5, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, and VF 9 respectively entering segments A-B-C-D-E.
