Volkswagen Group and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. have entered into a significant supply agreement, marking a notable collaboration in the realm of electric mobility. This strategic partnership will see Mahindra integrating Volkswagen’s cutting-edge electric components and unified cell technology into its INGLO electric platform, signifying a major step forward in the companies’ joint e-mobility endeavors.
Under this landmark agreement, Mahindra is set to become the inaugural external beneficiary of Volkswagen’s innovative unified cell concept, a cornerstone of its battery strategy. The deal, which spans several years, encompasses the supply of specific electric components and boasts a total volume of approximately 50 GWh over its duration. This collaboration underscores both entities’ commitment to bolstering e-mobility in India and propelling the region’s automotive electrification.

Mahindra aims to unveil five all-electric SUVs based on the INGLO platform by December 2024, targeting the burgeoning Indian market. With India’s automotive sector witnessing over five million new vehicles in 2023 alone, the move is poised to significantly impact the country’s electrification trajectory. The partnership further explores potential expansions, reflecting both companies’ dedication to e-mobility in India.
Volkswagen’s MEB platform, renowned for its versatility and efficiency, is utilized by its group brands and external partners, including Ford and now Mahindra. This collaboration is spearheaded by Volkswagen Group Technology and its Platform Business unit, in close coordination with Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd.
