Nissan Prices UK 52kWh LEAF From $38,311

Nissan has priced a new 52kWh LEAF from $38,311 (£28,849) in the UK, undercutting the 75kWh version while retaining the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant and up to 280 miles of WLTP range.

Nissan has opened UK order books for a 52kWh version of the all-electric LEAF, priced from $38,311 (£28,849) after the government’s full Electric Car Grant. The new battery option joins the recently launched 75kWh LEAF, giving UK buyers a lower-cost entry point into the model line while retaining eligibility for the £3,750 ($4,980) grant reserved for British-built EVs. The 52kWh grade delivers a WLTP-rated range of up to 280 miles and is available in Engage and Advance trims beginning July 1, 2026. Right-hand-drive production is already underway at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, with cars reaching dealerships later this summer.

Highlights

  • 52kWh Engage starts at $38,311 (£28,849); 52kWh Advance from $40,967 (£30,849)
  • WLTP-rated range of up to 280 miles, versus up to 387 miles (WLTP) for the 75kWh LEAF
  • Full £3,750 ($4,980) UK Electric Car Grant applies across all battery and trim combinations
  • Right-hand-drive production underway at Sunderland ahead of the July 1 order date

Pricing Across the LEAF Lineup

The 52kWh battery undercuts the previously available 75kWh LEAF by more than $4,500 at the entry point, positioning the model as one of the more efficient EVs in the UK market on a miles-per-kWh basis, according to Nissan. Including the Electric Car Grant, pricing across the six-trim lineup breaks down as follows:

Battery SizeTrim LevelPrice (Incl. Grant)
52kWhEngage$38,311 (£28,849)
52kWhAdvance$40,967 (£30,849)
75kWhEngage$42,827 (£32,249)
75kWhEngage+$44,022 (£33,149)
75kWhAdvance$45,483 (£34,249)
75kWhEvolve$48,139 (£36,249)

WLTP-cycle range figures typically read higher than EPA-rated figures used for the same vehicle in the U.S. market.

Aditya Moorthy, product manager at Nissan Motor GB, said: “We are excited to introduce the new 52kWh battery option on the All-New Nissan LEAF, offering up to 280 miles of range (WLTP) and starting at an attractive £28,849 with the Electric Car Grant. Designed for everyday driving, it combines confident electric performance with the comfort, technology and practicality customers expect from LEAF.”

Sunderland Production and the EV36Zero Project

The European-spec LEAF is now built alongside the Qashqai and Juke at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, the UK’s largest single car plant, as part of the automaker’s EV36Zero initiative — a manufacturing strategy that brings electric vehicle assembly, renewable energy generation and battery production onto one site. Nissan employs roughly 7,000 people across its UK operations, including a design center in Paddington, London, and an R&D engineering center in Cranfield.

The current-generation LEAF was built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform and represents the model’s third generation since its 2010 debut as the first mass-market electric vehicle. Nissan reports the LEAF nameplate has sold close to 700,000 units worldwide, with owners driving a combined total of more than 18 billion electric miles.
