Voltpost has deployed its inaugural public lamppost electric vehicle (EV) charger in Oak Park, Illinois, aiming to broaden access to convenient and affordable charging for the community. This initiative, a collaboration with the Park District of Oak Park and local utility ComEd, marks a significant step in Voltpost’s mission to expand EV infrastructure nationwide.

The deployment in Oak Park is a milestone for Voltpost, building on its ongoing projects in New York and Michigan. Jeffrey Prosserman, Voltpost CEO and Co-Founder, emphasized the project’s role in expanding EV charging access and advancing sustainable transportation. He expressed gratitude towards the Park District of Oak Park and ComEd for their partnership in making equitable EV charging infrastructure available.
Park District Board of Commissioners President, Kassie Porreca, stated that ensuring affordable EV charging access is vital to serving the community’s needs. She highlighted the collaborative effort to provide convenient curbside charging aimed at improving village life.
Voltpost’s innovative approach involves retrofitting lampposts with its modular charging platform. This method offers a rapid and cost-effective solution for curbside and parking lot charging, catering to a diverse range of clients including government bodies, real estate developers, universities, and parking lot operators.

Najwa Abouhassan, Senior Manager of Operational Planning at ComEd and a liaison for the 2c2i climate change initiative, expressed excitement for Voltpost’s mission to bring sustainable, street-level charging solutions to communities. She noted the collaboration signifies a meaningful step towards cleaner, more accessible energy infrastructure.
Chris Lindgren, Deputy Director of Properties and Planning for the Park District of Oak Park, voiced pride in the partnership, stating that the deployment supports the village’s sustainability goals while offering residents easier and more affordable access to clean transportation.
Voltpost celebrated this significant deployment with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Ridgeland Commons in Oak Park. Voltpost’s technology allows for chargers to be installed in minutes on existing lampposts, providing a scalable and equitable solution for communities seeking to decarbonize mobility by democratizing charging access.
