Volue has partnered with the Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association (Norsk elbilforening) to launch an initiative that rewards electric vehicle (EV) owners for charging their cars during optimal times. Targeting members in areas covered by Norgesnett, the program offers discounts to drivers who charge in a grid-friendly manner, promoting more sustainable energy consumption.
The initiative not only incentivizes smarter EV charging but also addresses challenges posed by the growing adoption of solar panels among Norwegian homeowners. By encouraging charging during surplus energy periods, the program helps balance grid loads, reduces energy waste, and offers financial benefits to EV owners.

The solution, developed by Volue, ensures that excess solar energy generated during low-demand periods doesn’t go to waste. Nearby EV owners can take advantage of discounted electricity by charging their vehicles, turning a potential grid issue into a cost-saving opportunity.
Kjetil Storset, Head of Spark by Volue, highlighted the impact of the initiative, stating: “Through grid friendly charging of EVs, we are transforming home EV charging from a grid capacity challenge into part of the solution. Together with the Norwegian EV Association, we are making it easier for EV drivers to charge smart, saving money while supporting a more stable power grid.”
